This research explores the homiletic characteristics of the eighthcentury Old Testament prophets who criticized Jewish religious leaders that deceived the Israelites with the false hope. The prophetic voice, often avoided by preachers because of its severity, needs to be heard by the Church today. The significance of preaching on the prophets is highlighted in that the book is the earliest written prophetic text that initiates the prophetic tradition. Furthermore, the prophetic texts serve as a bridge between the Old and New Covenant that is renewd in Christ. The purpose of this study is to propose a homiletic guideline on the eighth-century prophets toward the 21st-century audeience in the light of the prophetic sequence. The Day of Yahweh was proclaimed by the prophets; however, that day was neither the Israelites expected nor what they desired. The day was to be a day of darkness and destruction. The prophets stood squarely in the tradition of Moses and pronounced Istaelite’s sin and warned God’s judgment. While they lamented nation’s demise, they looked forward to the final restoration. This research proposes homiletic methodologies preaching on the eighth-century prophets. The prophetic preachers should; 1) focus on evil beneath the surface of social problems; 2) seek reconciliation in transforming character; 3) preach eschatological “NO” and “YES”; 4) nurture the 21st century remnant to strive for hope. Then the sermonic model that contains homiletic suggestions will be offered.

기원전 8세기 선지자들은 거짓된 희망을 품고 있던 당시 이스라엘 과, 기만적인 신학으로 이를 부추겼던 종교적 리더들의 행태를 가감없 이 고발한다. 현대 설교자는 원색적인 비판의 메시지가 주류를 이루는 선지적 목소리를 강단에서 다루기를 기피하기도 한다. 하지만, 기원전 8세기 선지서는 선지적 전통의 출발점으로 이후 선지서의 신학적, 문 학적 기틀을 마련했다는 점에서 중요하다. 또한 선지서 전반에 걸쳐 발 견되는“한탄에서 희망으로”시퀸스는 옛언약을 지키지 못한 인류가 그리스도안에서 성취된 새언약을 바라보도록 장려하고 있으며, 이는 선지적 본문 설교를 위해 연구 되어야 할 가치가 충분하다. 본 논문의 목적은 선지적 시퀸스를 탐구하여 기원전 8세기 선지서를 21세기 청중에게 선포하는 설교학적 방법론을 제시하는 것이다. 그들 은 당시 이스라엘에 만연했던‘야훼의 날’에 대한 잘못된 인식을 강도 높게 비판하며 그 날은 승리의 날이 아니라 멸망의 날임을 선포했다. 그들은 모세 율법 전통 위에 서서 이스라엘의 죄를 고발하고 그로 인한 하나님의 심판을 경고했다. 하지만, 선지자들은 이스라엘의 종말을 애 통하고 한탄 하면서도 다가올 완전한 회복을 바라보았다. 선지적 시퀸 스를 통해 본 논문은 다음과 같은 설교학적 방법론을 제언한다. 첫째, 8세기 선지서를 선포하는 설교자는 사회 문제가 아닌 그 이면에 내재 된 언약의 파괴에 집중해야 한다. 둘째, 사회 혁명이 아닌 청중의 본질 적 변화를 통해 화목을 도모한다. 셋째, 종말론적“No”와 동시에 “YES”를 선포한다. 넷째, 21세기‘남은 자’들을 양육하고 선도하여 희 망을 바라보도록 이끈다. 끝으로 이 논문에서 다룬 제안 사항을 담고 있는 설교적 모델을 제안하고 분석 할 것이다.
