The purpose of this study is to examine how adolescent students improve their quality of life and affect them emotionally by learning music through musical instrument performance at ‘after school’. To this end, a survey was conducted with 61 students participating in the youth orchestra located in Seowon-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, who were studying musical instrument performance at ‘After School School’, and an interview was conducted with the orchestra and string instructors. The results are as follows. First, after learning the instrument, the burden of learning the instrument was somewhat reduced. Second, in the question of self-esteem, the satisfaction with oneself was high, but they thought it was insufficient when performing an orchestra. Third, in interpersonal relationships, it is not difficult to get along with children of the same age, and the will to become a special person was strong. In this way, it was found that the concentration and cooperative spirit of adolescent students changed the most through playing musical instruments after school.

본 연구는 청소년기 학생들이 ‘방과 후 학교’ 악기연주활동을 통해 음악을 배움으로써 삶의 질 을 높이고 정서적으로 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 둔다. 이를 위해 ‘방과 후 학교’ 악기연주활동을 학고 있는 충청북도 청주시 서원구 소재 청소년 오케스트라 참여 학 생 약 61명을 대상으로 설문조사와 관·현악 강사선생님을 대상으로 인터뷰를 진행하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 악기를 배우고 난 후 악기를 배우는 부담감이 다소 감소 됐다. 둘째, 자아존중감에 대한 질문에선 자신에 대한 만족도는 높으나 오케스트라 연주를 할 때 부족하다 고 생각한다고 사전이나 후 동일하였다. 셋째, 대인관계는 또래 아이들과 함께 어울리는 것이 어렵지 않고 특별한 사람이 되고 싶다는 의지는 강하게 나타났다. 이렇게 청소년기 학생들에게 방과 후 학교 악기연주를 통해 집중력 그리고 협동심이 가장 많이 달라졌다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
