This study aims to promote the development of elementary school dance education by analyzing the curriculum in the expression area among the elementary school physical education subjects, identifying the current state of elementary dance education operation, deriving problems and finding ways to improve it. For this purpose, research and analysis are conducted through the school curriculum and the Internet site, the National Curriculum Information Center, etc., focusing on the expression area of the physical education curriculum from the 3rd to the 6th grade of elementary school. We explored problems and ways to develop. The research results are as follows. First, teachers' perception of dance education must be positively changed. Second, a variety of dance education-related practical class materials, teaching and learning guidance, and educational programs that teachers can easily use in class should be developed. Third, in order for dance classes to be conducted properly, the dance education environment in each school must be improved. Fourth, a dedicated training team for dance education should be systematically operated to increase teachers' professionalism and provide various training opportunities such as autonomous training to encourage teachers to have confidence in their dance classes.

본 연구는 초등학교 체육교과 중 표현 영역의 교육과정을 분석하고 초등 무용 교육 운영 실태 를 파악하여 문제점 도출하고 개선 방안을 모색함으로써 초등 무용 교육 발전을 도모하고자 한 다. 이를 위해 초등학교 3학년부터 6학년까지 체육교육과정 중 표현 영역 위주로 학교교육과정 및 인터넷 사이트 국가교육과정 정보센터 등을 통해 조사 분석하고 초등 무용교육과 관련된 각종 논문이나 학술지의 자료를 통하여 초등무용 교육의 문제점과 발전 방안을 모색해 보았다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 먼저 무용교육에 대한 교사들의 인식이 긍정적으로 전환되어야 한다. 둘째, 교사들이 수업에서 쉽게 활용할 수 있는 다양한 무용교육 관련 실기 수업 자료 및 교수학습 지도안, 교육프로그램이 개발되어야 한다. 셋째, 무용 수업이 제대로 이루어지기 위해 각 학교에 무용교육환경이 개선되어야 한다. 넷째, 무용교육을 위한 전담 연수 팀을 제도적으로 운영하여 교사들의 전문성을 높이고 자율연수 등 다양한 연수기회를 제공함으로써 교사들이 무 용 수업에 자신감을 갖도록 독려하여야 한다.
