The purpose of this study was to analyze the cases of fashion illustration focusing on the law of closure, one of the Gestalt laws, which are the basic principles of visual perception, then to develop related fashion illustration works. Literature study, case study, and work study were tried as research methods and the results were as follows. First, case analysis showed that fashion illustrations using the law of closure induced the action of closure by treating a part of the foreground and background with the same color, and the foreground and background were perceived separately without physical contour expression. Second, as a work study, seven fashion illustrations using points, lines, and surfaces, which are basic elements of form, along with the law of closure, were presented. In order to activate the law of closure in each work, perception of the omitted outline was induced through 'use of patterns', 'overlapping', 'contrast of light and shadow', and 'implication through accessories' all of these being featured in the case study. In addition to the law of closure, other Gestalt laws such as similarity, proximity, common destiny, familiarity, and Prägnanz were also used for the perception of these works. The results of this study are meaningful in that it presents specific expression methods of using the law of closure in fashion illustration and are expected to be useful as references for systematic thinking and expression in the development of related works.

이 연구의 목적은 시지각의 기본원리인 게슈탈트 법칙 중 폐쇄성의 법칙을 중심으로 한 패션 일러스트 레이션의 사례를 분석하고 관련 패션 일러스트레이션 작품을 개발하는 데 있다. 이를 위한 연구방법으로 문헌연구, 사례연구, 작품연구를 시도하였으며, 그 결 과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사례분석 결과, 폐쇄성의 법 칙을 활용한 패션 일러스트레이션은 전경과 배경의 일부를 동색으로 처리하여 폐쇄성의 작용을 유도하고, 물리적 윤곽 표현 없이 전경과 배경이 분리되어 지각 되는 특성이 있음을 파악하였다. 둘째, 작품연구로서 폐쇄성의 법칙과 함께 형태의 기본 요소인 점, 선, 면 을 활용한 7점의 패션 일러스트레이션을 제시하였다. 각 작품에서 폐쇄성의 법칙을 활성화하기 위해 사례 연구에서 나타난 '패턴의 활용', '중첩', '명암대비', '장 신구를 통한 암시' 등을 통해 생략된 윤곽의 지각을 유도하는 기법을 사용하였다. 또한 이 작품들의 지각 을 위해 폐쇄성의 법칙 외에도 근접성, 유사성, 공통 운명, 친숙성, 프래그난츠와 같은 다른 게슈탈트 법칙 도 활용하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 패션 일러스트레이션에서 폐쇄성 의 법칙을 활용하는 구체적인 표현 방법을 제시한다 는 점에서 의의가 있으며, 관련 작품의 개발을 위한 체계적인 사고와 표현의 참고자료로 활용될 것으로 기대한다.
