If a company increases the intensity of R&D expenditure, it can increase its own level of innovation. This improvement in the level of innovation can bring the most fundamental competitive advantage to companies. This study is expected to help make decisions by providing useful information to Chungcheongbuk-do companies and governments by analyzing how the level of international diversification affects the intensity of R&D expenditures of Chungcheongbuk-do companies. This paper conducted an empirical analysis on companies in Chungcheongbuk-do listed on the Korea Exchange from 1999 to 2020. The empirical results show that there is a negative (-) relationship between the intensity of R&D expenditure of Chungcheongbuk-do companies and the level of international diversification. This explains that an improvement in the level of international diversification could negatively affect the intensity of R&D expenditure of Chungcheongbuk-do companies because the intensity of R&D expenditure can be affected by the management situation of companies and international diversification has brought more cost pressure to adapt to the country. This paper suggested that the government should study in depth and encourage companies to enter more suitable overseas markets to reduce the negative impact of cost pressure from international diversification on the level of regional innovation. This question also suggested that international diversification helps companies in Chungcheongbuk-do expand the product market, but the negative impact of cost pressure on their level of innovation and competitive advantage cannot be ignored, and that companies in Chungcheongbuk-do should conduct market research and enter overseas markets that suit their characteristics.

기업이 연구개발비 투입강도를 늘리면 자체의 혁신수준을 높일 수 있다. 이런 혁신수준의 향 상은 기업에 가장 근본적인 경쟁 우위를 가져올 수 있다. 본 연구는 국제다각화 수준이 충청북 도 기업의 연구개발비 투입강도에 어떠한 영향을 미치지는 지를 분석하여 충청북도 기업 및 정 부에게 유용한 정보를 제공하여 의사결정을 하는 데에 도움이 되고 나아가 지역혁신체계 구축 및 충청북도 기업 혁신수준 향상을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 논문은 1999년부터 2020년 까지 한국거래소에 상장된 충청북도 기업을 대상으로 실증분석을 하였다. 실증결과는 충청북도 기업의 연구개발비 투입강도와 국제다각화 수준 간에 음(-)의 관계가 존재하는 것으로 나타난다. 이는 연구개발비 투입강도가 기업의 경영상황에 영향을 받을 수 있고, 해당 국가에 적응하기 위 해서 국제 다각화는 충청북도 기업에 더 많은 비용 압력을 가져왔기 때문에, 국제 다각화 수준 의 향상이 충청북도 기업의 연구개발비 투입강도에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 것을 설명 한다. 본 논문은 정부가 국제다각화에 따른 비용 압력이 지역 혁신 수준에 미치는 부정적 영향 을 줄이기 위해 깊이 있게 연구하고 기업들이 더 적합한 해외시장에 진출하도록 장려해야 한다 는 것을 제시하였다. 본 눈문도 충청북도 기업들에 대해서 국제다각화가 상품 시장 확대에 도움이 되지만 국제다각화에 따른 비용 압력이 자신의 혁신 수준과 경쟁 우위에 미치는 부정적 영향 도 무시할 수 없고, 충북지역 기업들은 국제다각화 과정에서 시장조사를 잘 하고 자신의 특성에 맞는 해외시장으로 진출해야 한다는 것을 제시하였다.
