This article, based on the perspective of the “Emperor-centered view of history”, explores the possibility of a new criticism of Kuroita Katsumi, who had evaded criticism in Japan as well as Korea, where his work has been considered as “sacred ground”. In Japanese academia, the “Emperor-centered view of history” had been established as a very negative term used only in a limited manner in the era of militarism. As a result, Kuroita's guilt was mostly diluted. Meanwhile, Choi Jae-seok shed new light on the “Emperor-centered view of history” from the perspective of ancient Korean history, explaining how it helped to distort the view on ancient Korean history, grasping both as two wheels of a cart. In addition, Yoshikawa Lisa highlighted the overall relationship between the domestic and international situation surrounding Kuroita and the national edification caused by the “Emperor-centered view of history”. The ideas of these two scholars who had been active outside the Korea-Japan Historical Society, will provide new clues for the criticism of Kuroita.

이 글은 그동안 일본뿐만 아니라 한국에서도 성역으로 여겨지며 비판을 면해 왔던 구로이타 가쓰미의 아카데미즘사학에 대해 황국사관이라는 관점에서 접근하여 새로운 구로이타 비판의 가능성을 모색하는 것이다. 일본학계에서 황국사관은 군국주의 시대에 제한적으로 사용되던 지극히 부정적인 용어로 정착되었는데 그것은 구로이타의 죄상이 희석되는 효과를 가져다줬다. 그러한 가운데 최재석은 황국사관에 대해 고대한국사의 관점에서 새롭게 조명하여 지금까지의 ‘천황 중심 역사관’에 ‘왜곡된 고대한국사관’을 더해 양자를 수레의 두 바퀴처럼 파악했다. 또한 요시카와는 구로이타를 둘러싼 국내외의 정세와 황국사관에 의한 국민교화의 대응 관계를 총체적으로 조명했다. 한일 사학회 외부에서 발신한 두 학자의 아이디어는 구로이타 비판에 새로운 연구의 실마리를 제공할 것이다.
