The purpose of this study is to develop a media art convergence education program for middle school students and analyze its effects to improve their understanding of cultural diversity. For this, the concept of cultural diversity and media art as well as previous studies on art education were examined, and the necessity of convergence between cultural diversity and media art was explained based on the linkages of 'communication', everyday life', and 'convergence of value, art, and technology'. The education program was developed based on four core values of cultural diversity( respect, human rights and equality, coexistence, and social justice) and four cultural diversity competencies(cognition, social sentiment, practice, and expression) and implemented towards middle school students. The study’s effectiveness was analyzed based on cultural diversity competencies and core values through collecting data from surveys, participatory observations, and notes about students’ activity impressions. As a result, this study shows three findings as follows. First, the four cultural diversity competencies of participating students were improved. Second, it also played a positive role in students’perception of core values for cultural diversity, and it served as an opportunity to learn respect and consideration for others, community consciousness, and efforts for social practice. Third, it is significant to explore the possibility of developing a social participatory art education program linking value·art·technology that has not been attempted much so far in an era where the recognition of different values and communication is increasingly significant. Starting with this study, it is hoped that the study for developing convergence on art education program, which combines technology, art, and social values, will be able to continue at a more multifaceted level.

본 연구는 청소년의 문화다양성 이해 증진을 위해 미디어아트 융복합 예술교육 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 문화다양성과 미디어아트의 개념과 예술교육 관련 문헌과 사례를 살펴보고, 소통, 일상성, 가치·예술·기술의 융합이라는 연계성을 근거로 문화다양성과 미디어아트의 융합 예술교육의 필요성을 설명하였다. 문화다양성의 12가지 핵심가치 중 ‘존중’, ‘인권 및 평등’, ‘공존’, ‘사회적 정의’네 가지 가치와 ‘인지’, ‘사회정서’, ‘실천’, ‘표현’이라는 네 가지 문화다양성 역 량을 반영하여 교육 프로그램을 개발하고, 중학교 학생을 대상으로 시범 운영하였다. 설문과 참여관찰, 활동소감을 통해 문화다양성 역량과 핵심가치에 근거하여 효과성을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 교육 프로그램은 청소년의 문화다양성에 대한 핵심가치 인식에 긍정적으로 작용하며, 타인에 대한 존중과 배려, 공동체 의식, 사회적 실천을 위한 방법들을 배우 는 계기가 되었다. 둘째, 참여 학생들의 문화다양성 역량이 향상된 것으로 나타났는데, 특히 ‘표현’영역 과 ‘실천’영역에서 긍정적인 응답이 높게 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 다름의 가치와 소통이 중요한 시대에 그간 많이 시도되지 않았던 가치-예술-기술을 연계한 사회참여적 예술교육 프로그램의 개발 가능성을 발견하였으며, 본 연구를 시작으로 보다 다면적 차원에서 기술과 예술, 그리고 사회적 가치가 결합된 융 합 예술교육이 지속적으로 개발, 연구되기를 기대한다.
