A Study on the Japanese Sentence Final Ending '-ne' and Its Korean Translation : through the Japanese Literature Hear the Songs of the Winds
Kim, Na-jeong. (2007). A Study on the Japanese Sentence Final Ending '-ne' and Its Korean Translation : through the Japanese Literature Hear the Songs of the Winds. Interpreting and Translation Studies 10-2, pp.27-45. The present paper compares and analyzes the Japanese literature ‘Kazeno utawo kike’(Hear the Songs of the Winds) and its Korean translated version to study how the Japanese sentence final ending '-ne' is translated. The results prove that diverse ways of expressing '-ne' exist, which do not correlate with the results of previous researches on the Korean linguistics. Translators aiming at producing translated works meeting a high level of perfection needs to continually research and heighten their understanding of linguistics and translation and not rely solely on 'experience and intuition.' It is especially necessary to establish a framework of grammar and pragmatics in order to enhance the quality of translation.
