This study discusses the method of integration in practical arts education. At this time, the focus of integration was placed on the fundamental purpose of integrated education, and the method of integration was changed from ‘integration between fields’ to ‘integration within the field’. For integration, the proposed ‘Social-Natural-Behavioral (SNB)’ model in this study. The development of the SNB model was accomplished through the design of a conceptual model and a procedural model. The conceptual model designed the concept of integration, and the procedural model designed the procedure for unit development. The principle of the conceptual model referred to Krupskaya’s polytechnical education theory, and the principle of the procedural model was referenced to Drake’s KDB model. The SNB model, designed on the basis of the conceptual model and the procedural model, is ‘Curriculum Analysis (Curriculum Compression, Achievement Standard Analysis)’, ‘Learning Content Extraction (Learning Content Extraction from SNB Perspective, Integrated Unit Design through SNB Element Structure)’, ‘Integrated unit development (creating essential questions, designing learning experiences)’ is composed of steps. In the past, integration between different and heterogeneous fields has been the main focus of integration in practical arts education. However, it is true that there are several difficulties in the process of ‘integration between fields’. This study asked, “Is only integration between fields effective in achieving the purpose of integration?” We tried to focus on the achievement of the purpose of integration itself by asking the question and changing the perspective of integration from ‘integration between fields’ to ‘integration within the field’. In other words, in order to increase the efficiency of integration, it was intended to suggest a new alternative called ‘integration within the field’ for integration in practical arts education.

이 연구는 실과교육에서 통합을 논의함에 있어서 통합의 시선을 통합교육의 근본적 목적에 두고 통 합의 방법을 ‘분야 간 통합’에서 ‘분야 내 통합’으로 전환한 것이다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서 제안한 것은 ‘SNB(Social-Natural-Behavioral)’ 모형이다. SNB 모형 개발은 개념모형과 절차모형의 구안을 통해 이 루어졌다. 개념모형은 통합의 개념을, 절차모형은 모형의 절차를 설계하기 위해 구안된 것이다. 개념모 형의 원리는 크룹스카야의 종합기술교육이론을 참고하였고 절차모형의 원리는 Drake의 KDB 모형을 참고하였다. 개념모형과 절차모형에 기초하여 설계된 SNB 모형은 ‘교육과정 분석(교육과정 압축, 성취 기준 분석)’, ‘학습내용 추출(SNB관점에 따른 학습내용 추출, SNB 요소 구조화를 통한 통합 단원 설 계)’, ‘통합 단원 개발(본질적 질문 만들기, 학습경험 설계하기)’ 단계로 구성되어 있다. 그동안 실과에서 통합은 실과를 구성하고 있는 서로 다른 이질적 ‘분야 간 통합’이 주된 관심사였다. 하지만 이질적 특 성을 가진 ‘분야 간 통합’은 통합 과정에서 여러 어려움이 존재하는 것이 사실이다. 이 연구는 “분야 간 통합만이 통합의 목적 달성에 유효한가?” 하는 질문을 던지고 통합의 방법을 ‘분야 간 통합’에서 ‘분야 내 통합’으로 전환하여 통합의 목적 달성 자체에 초점을 맞추고자 했다. 즉, 통합의 당위성에 통합의 목적이 함몰되는 역기능을 방지하고 통합의 수월성을 높이기 위해 실과 내 통합에 있어 ‘분야 내 통합’ 이라는 새로운 방법적 대안을 제시하고자 한 것이다.
