This study aimed to find a way to improve the usefulness of Korean music for implementing the ‘Pleasant Life’ curriculum. To this end, it reviewed the characteristics of thematic learning in the 2015 revised ‘Pleasant Life’ curriculum and analyzed the constructional aspect of Korean music materials for each theme. Also, it raised problems of utilizing the Korean music included in the integrated textbook and sought solutions. The findings of the study are as follows. The Korean music materials included in the integrated textbook are being used to implement achievement standards, skills, and curricular competency in relation to thematic learning. The result of analyzing the usage patterns of Korean music materials revealed ‘lack of Korean music materials satisfying the traits of thematic learning’, ‘insufficient role of Korean music for interdisciplinary learning’, ‘low rate of Korean music materials related to subject competencies’, and ‘inadequate implementation of cultural elements embedded in traditional children’s songs’. Solutions were suggested, including ‘development and inclusion of Korean music pieces for thematic learning’, ‘construction of interdisciplinary learning with the use of Korean music’, ‘reconstruction of Korean music activities in consideration of relevance to the subject’, and ‘realization of the play culture of traditional children’s songs as essential cultural education. This study is meaningful in that it discusses Korean music education that should be fulfilled in the subject of ‘Pleasant Life’ in preparation for the next curriculum. To apply what was presented in the study to the actual classroom appropriately, it is necessary to proceed with the related follow-up studies.

본 연구는 ‘즐거운 생활’과 교육과정 운영에 있어 국악의 활용성을 제고하기 위한 방안을 모색하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 2015 개정 ‘즐거운 생활’과 교육과정의 주제 학습의 특징을 검토하고, 각 주제별 국악 제재의 수록 양상을 분석하였다. 또한 통합교과서에 수록 된 국악 활용의 문제점을 제기하고, 그에 대한 해결 방안을 모색해 보았다. 연구 결과를 정리 하면 다음과 같다. 통합교과서에 수록된 국악 제재는 주제 학습과의 관련성 속에서 성취기준과 기능, 교과 역량을 구현하기 위해 활용되고 있다. ‘즐거운 생활’과와 관련하여 수록된 국악 제재의 활용 양상을 분석한 결과, ‘주제 학습의 특성을 충족시킬 수 있는 국악 제재 부족’, ‘교과 연계 학 습을 위한 국악의 역할 미흡’, ‘교과 역량과 관련된 국악 제재의 낮은 비율’, ‘전래동요에 담긴 문화적 요소의 구현 미흡’의 문제점이 도출되었다. 이를 개선하기 위해서는 ‘주제 학습을 위 한 국악곡 개발․수록’, ‘국악을 활용한 교과 연계 수업 조직’, ‘교과 역량과의 관련성을 고려 한 국악 활동의 재구성’, ‘문화적 소양 교육으로서 전래동요 놀이문화의 구현’이 필요함을 논 의하였다. 본 연구는 차기 교육과정에 대비하여 통합교과 ‘즐거운 생활’과에서 이루어져야 할 국악교 육에 대해 논의한 의의가 있다. 본 연구에서 제안한 내용이 학교 현장에 적합하게 적용되기 위해서는 이와 관련된 후속 연구가 진행될 필요가 있다.
