This article examines the relationship between Seok o(石吾) Lee Dong-ryung(李東寧) and Daejonggyo(大倧敎). Lee Dong-ryung is a person who endured our traditional society and colonial era with his whole body. In particular, he has served as a major role for 20 years since the establishment of ‘the temporary government of the Republic of Korea(大韓民國臨時政府)’, and his life itself was ‘a temporary government of the Republic of Korea’. In short, it means that Lee Dong-ryung cannot be left out in discussing ‘the temporary government of the Republic of Korea’. In particular, he paid attention to the journey of his anti-Japanese struggle, which was being completed when Lee Dong-ryung entered Daejonggyo. This is because his entry into Daejonggyo was the driving force behind his lifelong anti-Japanese struggle.

이 글은 석오 이동녕과 대종교의 관계를 살핀 글이다. 이동녕은 우리의 전 통사회와 식민지시대를 온 몸으로 견디며 살다간 인물이다. 특히 그는 대 한민국임시정부의 설립으로부터 20년 동안, 주요 요직을 두루 역임한 인물 로, 그의 삶 자체가 대한민국임시정부였다. 한마디로 대한민국임시정부를 논함에 이동녕을 빼놓을 수 없다는 의미다. 이 논문은 이동녕의 사상적 변 화 과정에 초점을 둔 글이다. 특히 이동녕이 대종교로 귀의하며 완성되어가는 그의 항일투쟁의 여정을 주목하였다. 그의 대종교로의 귀의는, 평생 을 흔들림 없이 항일투쟁에 몸을 담을 수 있었던 원동력이 되었기 때문이다.
