This article aims to explore what can be done for the revival of the declining 21st century Korean church. First, the reason why Lloyd-Jones became interested in revival was his convinction that the true solution to overcome the decline of the Church of England was the outpouring of God’s Spirit, not man’s efforts. Looking back on revival history, he explains the errors of dead orthodoxy, the true character of revival, mass evangelism campaign as human effort, the purpose of revival, a preliminary stage and an intermediate stage of revival, and final responses of God. Second, Lloyd-Jones’s theology of revival defines revival as God’s sovereign work, provides concrete steps for the church to carry out, sets the purpose of revival in the glory of God, and optimistically expects revival through faith although the church lies in a gloomy reality. Despite these advantages of Lloyd-Jones, he is closely related to Pentecostalism by insisting on the baptism with the Holy Spirit as a separate experience after conversion. From a pastoral point of view, it is a conviction of Lloyd-Jones that only the baptism can overcome the sin of consuming the Spirit committed by the dead orthodoxy, and that the restoration of the church at that time was impossible without revival. Third, considering the strengths and weaknesses of Lloyd-Jones’s revival theology, the Korean church can expect revival, the sovereign work of God in a crisis, and must repent of the ‘church growth first principle’ and not only carry out the basic mission given to the church, but also should take an open attitude towards the work of the Spirit in which christians experiences God in depth.

이 논문의 목적은 쇠퇴하고 있는 21세기 한국교회의 부흥을 위해 무 엇을 할 수 있는가를 탐구하는 것이다. 첫째, 로이즈 존스가 부흥에 관 심을 갖게 된 것은 쇠퇴한 영국교회를 극복하는 것은 사람의 노력이 아닌 하나님의 성령의 부어주심이 참된 해결책이라고 확신했기 때문이 다. 그는 교회사에 나타난 부흥의 역사를 돌아보며, 죽은 정통의 오류 들, 부흥의 참된 성격, 인위적인 대중적 복음전도, 부흥의 목적, 부흥의 예비단계, 중간단계 그리고 최종적인 하나님의 응답을 소개한다. 둘째, 로이드 존스의 부흥신학은 부흥을 하나님 주권적 사역으로 규정하고, 교회가 수행해야 할 단계들을 구체적으로 제공하며, 부흥의 목적을 하 나님의 영광에 두고 있으며, 암울한 현실 속에서도 믿음으로 부흥을 낙 관적으로 바라본다. 이런 장점이 있음에도 불구하고 로이드 존스는 성 령세례를 회심 이후의 별개의 경험으로 주장함으로써 오순절주의와 밀 접하게 연관된다. 이것은 로이드 존스가 목회적 관점에서 성령을 소멸 하는 죽은 정통의 죄를 극복하고, 부흥 없이는 당대 교회의 회복이 불 가능하다고 확신했기 때문이다. 셋째, 로이드 존스의 부흥신학의 장단점을 고려할 때, 한국교회는 위기 속에서 하나님의 주권적 사역인 부흥 을 기대할 수 있으며, ‘교회성장 제일주의’를 회개하고 교회에 주어진 기본적 사명을 수행하되 더 나아가 하나님을 깊이 체험하는 성령의 역 사에 열린 자세를 취해야 한다.
