The study aims to explore the education experiences of rehabilitation play education instructors with the elderly in long-term care in the J region. Participants in the study had former and current careers in various education and became rehabilitation play education instructors for the reasons of “strengthening their capabilities as lecturers, becoming socially valuable, and new jobs in the era of aging." However, regardless of their previous experiences in education, they suffered emotional difficulties such as loss of confidence, psychological exhaustion, and reversal of emotions due to the unresponsiveness of the elderly in the actual field. In the process, the perception of psychological conflicts caused by the gap between their existing careers in education and the field of elderly education and the lack of capacity as an elderly education instructor were recognized as their distinctive experience. Nevertheless, it has been confirmed that the driving forces that allowed them to continue to work as rehabilitation play education instructors were the “recognition of positive change of the elderly, a sense of duty as instructors, the emotional support of learning community, and the desire for self-growth." The study is meaningful in that in the absence of research on elderly education instructors, their experiences and concerns in the field have been explored from the instructors’ perspective. This study provide important implications for exploring the competencies required for elderly education instructors and the direction of related education for the eldery in long-term care.

본 연구는 J 지역에서 장기요양등급 노인을 대상으로 재활놀이교육을 하고 있는 재 활놀이교육사의 교육 경험 탐색을 목적으로 한다. 연구 참여자들은 다양한 교육 관련 전·현직 경력을 가진 이들로 ‘강사로서의 역량 강화, 사회적으로 가치 있는 일, 고령화 시대의 새로운 직업’ 등의 이유로 재활놀이교육사가 되었다. 하지만 그들은 이전의 교육 경력과 무관하게 실제 교육 현장에서 노인들의 무반응과 무표정 등으로 자신감을 상실 하거나, 심리적 소진, 감정의 역전이 현상 등 정서적 어려움을 겪었다. 그 과정에서 그 들의 기존 교육경력과 노인교육 현장 간의 괴리로 인한 심리적인 갈등과 노인교육 강 사로서의 역량 부족에 대한 인식은 재활놀이교육사의 핵심적 경험으로 인식되었다. 그 럼에도 불구하고 연구 참여자들이 재활놀이교육사로서 계속 활동할 수 있었던 원동력 은 ‘노인들의 긍정적 변화 인식, 교육사로서의 사명감, 학습동아리의 정서적 지지, 자아 성장에 대한 욕구’ 등임을 확인했다. 본 연구는 노인교육 강사에 대한 연구의 부재 속에 서 재활놀이교육사의 시선으로 그들이 노인교육 현장에서의 경험과 고민을 탐색했다는 점에 의미가 있다. 연구결과는 노인교육 강사에게 필요한 역량 탐색 및 장기요양등급 노인 관련 교육 방향 설정에 중요한 시사점을 제공한다.
