Emergency fire extinguishing systems are facilities to minimize damage to people and property caused by fires, and are mainly installed in traditional markets, shopping malls, and mountainous areas where fire trucks are difficult to enter. The equipment is installed so that residents can easily use it to extinguish the initial fire on their own to secure the golden time, which is the early stage of the fire, but there is a lack of civic awareness on fire safety and publicity on how to use emergency fire extinguishing devices. This study is a research on R&D (Research & Develop) commercial design conducted by the author (practice-based research). The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of illustration design to be applied to emergency fire extinguishing systems in the future by analyzing the case studies of emergency fire extinguishing system illustration design development in forests adjacent to the east coast of Gangwon-do. As a research method, the formative characteristics of illustration presented by Moon Cheol and Lee Mi-na (2015, p.199) on the elements of emergency fire extinguisher illustration derived from previous research from the perspective of safety and public design, 'Gaze guidance, visual transmission, education, information' was analyzed based on the characteristics of the emergency fire extinguisher illustration, such as affinity, visibility, harmony, publicity, and color, shape, and location, which are visual elements. As a result of the study, among the four characteristics, through illustration of emergency fire extinguishers with strong "friendly characteristics," emergency fire extinguishers in forest adjacent villages on the east coast of Gangwon-do were differentiated from emergency fire extinguishers in other cities and were harmonized with the surrounding environment. This study is meaningful in presenting the research direction of an illustration of an eco-friendly emergency fire extinguisher that harmoniously reflects local culture and identity.

비상소화장치는 화재로 인한 인명 및 재산 피해를 최소화하기 위한 시설로 주로 소방차 진입이 어려운 전통시장, 상가 밀집 지역, 산간지역 등에 설치된다. 화재 초기인 골든타임을 확보하기 위해 주민이 스스 로 초기 화재를 진압하는 데 손쉽게 사용할 수 있도 록 설치된 장비이지만, 화재 안전에 대한 시민의식과 비상소화장치 사용법에 대한 홍보가 부족하다. 본 연구는 저자가 진행한 R&D(Research & Develop) 상업적 디자인에 관한 연구이다 (Practice-based research). 강원도 동해안 산림인 접마을 비상소화장치 일러스트레이션 디자인 개발 사 례분석을 통해 향후 비상소화장치에 적용될 일러스트 레이션 디자인 방향성을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법으로는 안전, 공공디자인 관점에서 관련 선행연구 조사를 통해 도출된 비상소화장치 일러스트 레이션 요소를 문철과 이미나(2015, p.199)가 제시 한 일러스트레이션의 조형적 특성 '시선 유도, 시각전 달, 교육, 정보'를 통하여 도출된 비상소화장치 일러 스트레이션의 특성인 친화성, 시인성, 조화성, 공공성 과 시각화 구성요소인 색상, 형태, 위치를 기준으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 4가지 특성 중 '친화적 특성'이 강한 비상 소화장치 일러스트레이션을 통해 강원도 동해안 산림 인접마을 비상소화장치는 다른 타 도시의 비상소화장 치와는 차별되며, 주변환경과 조화롭게 조성되어 있 었다. 본 연구는 지역문화성과 정체성을 조화롭게 반 영한 친화적인 비상소화장치 일러스트레이션의 연구 방향성을 제시하는 것에 의의가 있다.
