Jeong Hoseung is a representative poet who kept the level of lyricism constant. The lyrical concept he shows does not stem from the reproduction and familiarity of everyday words, but from a unique methodology that reveals a sense of subject. It is drawn in a way that shows the presentness of the utopia by replacing the spatial experience with specific spatiality rather than an abstract dimension. The method of embodying lyrical ideas through experience of existing counter-space, not the utopia of absence, leads his poem to an aesthetic horizon. Waiting, death consciousness, and the meaning of love are important factors that form the basis of Jeong Hoseung’s poem, and they are embodied through the acquisition of places such as “trains,” “tombs,” and “shades,” respectively. In an era when reality criticism prevailed, “Seoul” was a place that symbolized the hybrid situation of the absence of value and existence, and recently reappears as a place of new meaning through internal reconciliation. This can be seen as the poetic achievement of heterotopia embodied in Jeong Hoseung, and this methodology is likely to be established as one of the various perspectives of interpretation of modern Korean poetry.

정호승은 서정성의 수준을 일정하게 유지한 대표적인 시인이다. 그가 보 여주고 있는 서정적 관념은 단순한 일상어의 재생산과 친숙성이 아니라, 주 제의식을 드러내는 독특한 방법론에서 기원한다. 그것은 공간체험을 추상적 차원이 아닌 구체적 장소성으로 치환하여 이 상향의 현재성을 보여주는 방식으로 그려진다. 부재의 유토피아가 아니라, 현존하는 ‘다른 공간(counter-espaces)’에 대한 체험을 통해 서정적 관념을 구 체화하는 방법이 그의 시를 미학적 지평에 이르게 한다. 기다림과 죽음의식, 사랑의 의미화는 정호승 시의 근간을 이루는 중요한 요인이며 이들은 각각 ‘기차’, ‘무덤’, ‘그늘’이라는 장소성의 획득을 통해 형상화된다. 현실비판이 우세했던 시대에 ‘서울’은 가치의 부재와 현존이라는 혼종적 상황을 상징하 는 곳이었으며 최근에는 내면적 화해를 통해 새로운 의미의 장소성으로 재 등장한다. 이것이 정호승 시에 구현된 헤테로토피아의 시적 성취라고 볼 수 있으며 이 같은 방법론은 한국 현대시 해석의 다양한 관점의 하나로 정립될 가능성 이 있다.
