The purpose of this study is to develop a support system for improving and enhancing teaching competency based on the survey of the demand for teaching competency of university professors. To this end, the researcher analyzed the requirements and differences in teaching competency by career and major departments, and reviewed the programs for supporting and strengthening teaching competency, which are mainly developed and applied by universities, and presented support programs and improvement strategies as a systematic support system for teaching competency. The results of this study showed that the most demanding competency of professors under five years of experience is professional knowledge competency among basic competencies, while those with more than 5 to 10 years, less than 10 to 15 years, and less than 15 to 20 years of experience are challenge support competency among student support competencies. In addition, professors for more than 20 years had high competency to support sharing and challenge among the competency to support students. Second, in the demand for teaching competency by major categories, professors in the humanities and social sciences show high demands for student understanding competency and professional knowledge competency, high demand for teaching competency centered on student support competency in both natural science and engineering, and arts and physical education, and in detail, the demand for challenge support competency, cooperation support competency, and sharing support competency is high. Third, based on the review of the teaching competency improvement support program and the results of IPA and Borich demand analysis on teaching competency, the support system for teaching competency by career and major department was presented.

본 연구의 목적은 대학 교원의 교수역량에 대한 인식조사를 바탕으로 교수역량 개선 및 향상을 위한 지원체제를 개발하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 경력별, 전공계열별 교수역량에 대한 인식 및 차이 분석을 실시하고, 현재 대학들에서 주로 개발하여 적용하고 있는 교수역량 지원 및 강화 프로그램 을 검토하여 체계적인 교수역량 지원 프로그램 및 향상 방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 첫째, 경력별 교수역량에 대해 5년 미만 교원에서 가장 요구도가 높은 역량은 기본역량 중 학문연구 역량 이며, 5년 이상~10년 미만 교원은 수업평가 역량, 10년 이상~15년 미만 교원은 학생이해 및 관계 역 량, 15년 이상~20년 미만 교원은 수업실행-도입전략 역량으로 나타났다. 또한, 20년 이상 교원에서 가장 요구도가 높은 역량은 기본역량 중 학문연구 역량으로 나타났다. 둘째, 전공계열별 교수역량에 대한 요구도에서 인문사회계열 교원은 기본역량의 학생이해 및 관계 역량과 학문연구 역량에 대한 요구가 높게 나타나고 수업평가 전략에 대한 요구도 높았다. 자연과학계열 교원과 공학계열 교원은 수업실행-도입전략 역량, 예·체능계열 교원은 학문연구, 교육철학 역량에 대한 요구도가 높게 나타 났다. 셋째, 교수역량 향상 지원 프로그램의 검토와 교수역량에 대한 IPA, Borich 요구도 분석 결과 에 근거하여 경력별, 전공계열별 교수역량에 대한 지원체제로 구체적인 지원 프로그램 및 향상 방 안을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 대학 교원이 처해 있는 상황이나 시기에 적합한 교수역량 지 원 프로그램을 제공하기 위한 실천적 지침을 제공해 줄 수 있다. 또한, 대학의 특성 및 요구를 반영 하여 교수역량 강화 프로그램을 설계 및 개발하고자 할 때 체계적인 과정 및 절차가 포함된 실천 모형을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다.
