This paper explores the implications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) for security management using a case study of South Korea. The paper examines what the 4IR is and explores some of the technological innovations in security, before speculating on where these could lead using both positive and negative examples. The paper then explores what the implications of 4IR will be for security management using a case study of South Korea based upon a survey of security managers in a specific industrial zone. The paper argues the 4IR will accelerate further trends in the ‘convergence’ of security and related functions such as safety.

이 연구는 한국의 사례 연구를 통해 보안관리에 대한 4차산업혁명(4IR)의 영향과 4IR이 무엇인지에 대해 다루고 있다. 또한, 이 연구에서는 보안의 기술 혁신이 우리를 어디로 이끌 수 있을지를 예측하기 전에 긍정적인 예와 부정적인 예를 모두 활용하여 보안의 기술 혁신에 대하여 자세히 살펴본다. 그리고 특정 산업 지역의 보안관리자를 대상으로 한 조사를 바탕으로 한 한국의 사례 연구를 통해 4IR이 보안관리에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대하여 탐구한다. 이 연구에서는 4IR이 보안 및 안전과 같은 관련 기능의 ‘융합’ 움직임이 향후 더욱 가속화될 것이라 결론지었다.
