This study focuses on the image of ‘bird’ that appeared in Kim Hye-soon’s recent poems. In her poetry, birds not only reflect the problem consciousness of women and otherness which Kim Hye-soon has dealt with, but are also connected to the perspective of social culture that has been violent by dividing humans and non-humans. Walter Benjamin explains the image that induced new poetic thinking through negativity as an image of thought, and this study reviews the image transformation and poetry consciousness of birds by viewing the “bird” in her poetry as an image of thought. In Chapter 2, birds are interpreted as the historical death. Kim Hye-soon dealt women as a representation of otherness. In her poems, birds are denied entry into a particular society. The poetic subject exposes the violence through the appropriation of question and parody. In Chapter 3, this article reveals the link of birds and the image of ghost and what they mean. Birds and ghosts come when the poetic subject is isolated, and they are their family(mom, dad, sisters) who are the lost dead being. The emotional distance has become closer and a kind of responsibility has been given to the poetic subject. Therefore, the poetic subject presents a poetry writing that waits to hear the words of birds and ghosts. The significance of this study can be taken as a significance of the review of the chain of images, and future studies will deal with the loss and condolences of poetic subjects in more detail.

이 연구는 김혜순의 최근 시에 등장한 ‘새’ 이미지에 주목하였다. 새는 그간 김혜순이 다루어 온 여성, 타자 등의 문제의식을 반영할 뿐 아니라, 인간과 비 인간을 나누어 폭력을 가했던 사회문화에 대한 시선과도 연결되기 때문이다. 발 터 벤야민은 부정성을 통과하여 새로운 시적 사유를 유도한 이미지를 사유이미 지로 설명하는데, 이 연구는 김혜순 시에 등장한 ‘새’를 사유이미지로 보고 새 의 이미지 변환과 시쓰기 의식을 검토하였다. 2장에서는 새를 사회역사적으로 죽음을 맞이한 존재이자 여성/타자의 재현으로 해석하였다. 이들은 죽음을 맞이해야만 무대라는 사회에 진입할 수 있는 데, 이 무대의 폭력성과 무의미함을 시적 주체는 질문과 패러디라는 전유적인 어법을 통해 노출한다. 3장에서는 새가 유령이라는 이미지와 결합한 것에 주목하였다. 시적 주체는 자신의 가족이 유령이 된 것으로 그려낸다. 감정적 거리가 가까워졌으며 시적 주체에게 일종의 책임감이 주어진 것이다. 시적 주체는 새-유령이 전하는 말을 듣고자 기다리는 시쓰기를 제시하고 있다. 이미지의 연쇄를 검토했다는 점을 이 연구의 의의로 삼을 수 있으며, 이후 연구에서는 시적 주체의 상실과 애도를 좀 더 구체적으로 다루고자 한다.
