This article reviews important Korean classical novels(Gososeol) owned by the Museum of Korean Modern Literature. There are 1,504 books of 1,066 kinds in total in the collection of old documents. Among them, there are 64 kinds of Korean classical novels(Gososeol). Korean classical novels(Gososeol) owned by the Museum of Korean Modern Literature are diverse in terms of form, including Chinese Banggakbon, Chinese manuscripts, Korean Banggakbon, and Korean manuscripts. The biggest feature of Korean classical novels(Gososeol) owned by the Museum of Korean Modern Literature is Banggakbon novels and classic novels, Ryuchungyuljeon. In the case of a Wanpan Banggakbon novel, there are many materials engraved with a transcription, so it is useful to examine the anniversary of the publication of the complete version in the future. And Ryuchungyuljeon is useful for examining the acceptance of this novel and the variation of Yvonne. Among the Korean classical novels(Gososeol) owned by the Museum of Korean Modern Literature, the complete Banggakbon Novel Honggildongjeon, the Chinese Banggakbon Novel Samgukji(三國志), the mixed manuscript of Chinese characters, the ghost story of Chinese characters, the Chinese manuscript Imjeonggi, and the Chinese manuscript of Taiping’guangji(太平廣記). These classical novels are rare or have an important status in different manuscript versions, which can only be found in the Museum of Korean Modern Literature.

이 글은 한국근대문학관에서 소장하고 있는 고문헌 중에서 고소설 자료만을 검토해 본 것이다. 한국근대문학관에서 소장하고 있는 고문헌은 고서와 고문서 등을 포함하여 전체 1,066종 1,504책이다. 이중에서 고소설(야담 및 근대시기 필사된 자료 포함)은 모두 64종이다. 한국근대문학관의 고소설은 형태적인 측면에서 한문 방각본, 한문 필사본, 한글 방각본, 한글 필사본 등으로 다양하다. 한국근대문학관 소장 고소설의 가장 큰 특징은 완판 방각본 소설과 고소설 『유충렬전』이 많다는 점이다. 완판 방각본 소설의 경우에는 간기(刊記)가 새겨져 있는 자료가 많기 때문에 차후 완판본 간행의 편년(編年)을 재구해 보는데 유용하다. 그리고 『유충렬전』의 경우에는 11종의 이본(異本)이 있어, 이 작품의 수용(受容) 및 이본의 변이 양상을 살펴보는 데 유용하다. 한국근대문학관에서 소장하고 있는 고소설 중에서 주목해서 볼 것은 완판 방각본 소설 『홍길동전』, 중국 방각본 소설 『삼국지』, 국한문 혼용 필사본 『기담수집』, 한문 필사본 『괴담』, 한글 필사본 『임정기(壬征記)』, 한문 필사본 『상사동기, 절강(浙江) 왕경룡전』, 한문 필사본 『태평광기』이다. 이 자료는 한국근대문학관에서만 볼 수 있는 희귀본이거나 개별 작품의 이본군(異本群)에서 주요한 위상을 지닌 것들이다.
