The purpose of this study is to examine how male dancers perceive the dance world in a comprehensive sense to which they belong and define their position in the dance world, which is a female-dominated society in which the researcher is involved. In order to examine how they are accepting the benefits within the dance industry that can be granted simply because they are men this research listened to the opinions of six experts composed of male and female dancers who are continuously engaged in artistic activities in the dance world. The thoughts of male and female dancers in the dance world were conducted in an in-depth interview method. It was intended to model the core mechanisms of men's efforts for survival and continuous activity in the dance world and the prejudices they bring. As a result, the view of the gender roles of men majoring in dance, the uncomfortable views of male and female dancers on feminism, or the change in cases and perceptions of benefiting as a minority and the meaning of starting a life as a male dancer in the dance world. The results showed that education on gender and gender roles was necessary. This can be interpreted as an environment in which all dancers can freely engage in artistic activities with the correct gender role recognition without gaps the framework of gender perspective in the dance world. Finally, I hope that it will be an opportunity to raise awareness about discrimination, benefits, or hindrances from a gender perspective in the dance world, and to provide an opportunity for detailed studies on finding ways to be sufficiently addressed from the point of view of male dancers.

본 연구의 목적은 연구자가 몸담고 있는 여성 주류의 사회인 무용계에서 어떻게 남 성무용가들이 자신들이 속해있는 포괄적인 의미의 무용계를 인지하고 자신들의 위치 를 어떻게 정의하고 있는지 살펴보고자 한다. 단순히 남성이기에 부여될 수 있는 무용 계 내의 혜택을 어떻게 받아들이고 있는지를 살펴보기 위하여 본 연구자는 무용계에 서 지속적 예술 활동을 하고 있는 남성무용가들과 여성무용가들로 구성된 전문가 6명 의 견해를 듣고, 젠더 관점에서 편견이 아닌 실체적 무용계에서의 남성 및 여성무용가 들이 가지는 생각들을 심층 면담 방식으로 실시하였다. 무용계에서 생존과 지속적 활동을 위한 남성들의 노력과 그것들이 가지고 오는 편 견들에 대한 핵심 기제를 모형화하고자 했다. 그 결과 무용을 전공하는 남성들의 성역 할의 견해나 남․여 무용가들의 페미니즘에 대한 불편한 견해 혹은 소수자로서 혜택 을 받는 것에 대한 사례와 인식의 변화 그리고 무용계 내에서 남성 무용가로서의 삶을 시작한다는 것에 대한 의미와 성역할에 대한 교육이 필요하다는 결과가 도출되었다. 이는 모든 무용가들이 무용계에서 젠더 관점의 틀에서 벗어나 격차 없는 올바른 성 역할 인식을 가지고 자유롭게 예술 활동을 할 수 있는 환경들이 조성되어야 한다는 것 으로 해석되어질 수 있다. 마지막으로 무용계에서 젠더 관점의 차별이나 혜택 혹은 저해요소들에 대한 경각심 을 일깨워 주고 방안 모색에 관한 섬세한 연구들이 남성무용가들의 관점에서도 충분 히 다뤄지는 기회가 되기를 희망한다.
