The debate on the subject of Bai ju-yi's ‘PATHETIC SONG’ is an area of ​​research that has been handed down for 80 years in Chinese academic circles. This paper focuses on the content of the second debate on the topic of ‘PATHETIC SONG’ in the 80s and 90s, and focuses on the theories of affection and allegory that form the two walls of the debate on the subject of Bai ju-yi’s ‘PATHETIC SONG’ There are several other thematic theories, such as the double-minded theory, the pathetic theory, the regrets, and the sympathy theory, but they have not been described in detail. It is argued that the theme of affection in ‘PATHETIC SONG’ is based on the pure love of Hyeonjong Dang and Yang kuei-fei, and the theory of allegory in ‘PATHETIC SONG’ is the view of seeing poppy as the color of the country that ruined the country. This argument is based on the allegory that criticized Dang Hyeon-jong and Yang kuei-fei. The grounds for these two thematic theories are the interpretation of the main contents of Bai juyi's ‘PATHETIC SONG’and the interpretation of the creation motives of Bai ju-yi's ‘PATHETIC SONG’, the interpretation of ‘PATHETIC SONG’ and his experience of love with Bai ju-yi's first love Sangryeong, and the social psychological aspects of the citizens of ‘PATHETIC SONG’. It presents mixed interpretations according to the interpretation of human characteristics and the demands of the times. From the perspective of scholars who study ‘PATHETIC SONG’ and readers who watch ‘PATHETIC SONG’, how to view the theme of ‘PATHETIC SONGN’ in terms of acceptance aesthetics is inevitable to express various opinions and arguments. 백거이 <長恨歌>주제에 대한 논쟁은 중국 학술계에서 오랫동안 계속되고 있는데 자료도 방대하고 주장들도 분분하다. 본고는 80, 90년대에 이루어진 <長恨歌>주제 논쟁에 관한 내용을 위주로 서술한 논문으로, 백거이 <長恨歌>주제 논쟁의 쌍벽을 이루고 있는 애정주제설과 풍유주제설을 집중적으로 조명해보았다. <長恨歌>의 애정주제설은 당현종과 양귀비의 순수한 사랑을 주제로 하고 있다는 주장이고, <長恨歌>의 풍유주제설은 당현종과 양귀비 사이에는 사랑이 존재하지 않았고 양귀비를 나라를 망하게 한 경국지색으로 보는 관점에서 당현종과 양귀비를 비난한 풍유을 주제로 한 주장이다. 이 두 주제설의 근거들은 백거이의 <長恨歌> 창작 동기나 <長恨歌> 의 주요 내용에 대한 해석, <長恨歌>와 백거이 첫사랑 상령과의 사랑의 경험에 대한 해석, <長恨歌> 에 대한 시민들의 사회심리적인 특징이나 시대적인 요구에 대한 해석 등이 있다. 본고는 白居易「長恨歌」의 愛情主題說, 政治諷諭主題說의 근거와 문학사상을 고찰하고 그 발생배경과 연구전개과정을 살펴봄으로서 중국의 白居易「長恨歌」 연구자들의 연구 성과를 파악하고 심도 있게 이해하는 데에 연구의 목적과 의의를 두었다. 褚斌杰선생이 白居易「長恨歌」의 愛情主題說을 주장하면서 중국 학자들은 白居易「長恨歌」愛情主題說을 여러 각도에서 연구했다. 內容的인 측면이나 藝術的인 측면 그리고 文體論的인 創作 形式 측면에서「長恨歌」의 愛情主題說의 根據를 고찰했다. 그리고「長恨歌」의 政治諷諭主題說은「長恨歌」를 實證主义적인 方法으로 硏究한 결과로「長恨歌」作品을 現實을 批判한 서사시로 評價했다. 이런 ‘以史證詩’하는 硏究方法으로 事實 위주의 정확한 根據를 가지고「長恨歌」文學作品을 硏究했을 때 李·楊 두 사람 사이에는 愛情이 존재했다는 愛情說을 부정하고 있다.
