The perception of color is a common ability for all mankind, but in different countries and different cultures, the understanding of the meanings of colors is not the same. As shown in Red Sorghum, Mo Yan used color terms very well in his works to describe the scenery and the psychology of the characters, and thus demonstrated the Chinese cultural characteristics of the novel and his writing style of magical realism. This article aims to analyze the translation of color terms in the Korean version of Red Sorghum on the basis of accepting theories, to see whether the color terms were translated or rewrote and to see what kind of translation strategies were adopted by the translator to fulfill the trans-national and trans-cultural translation activities to introduce Red Sorghum to South Korea and let it be accepted by Korean readers.

색채에 대한 인식은 인간 공유하는 감각인 동시에 각 나라와 문화에 따라 색 채의 상징의의가 다르다. 『붉은 수수밭』에서 볼 수 있듯이 모옌은 그의 작품에 서 색체어를 잘 활용하는 것을 통해 풍경과 인물의 심리를 묘사하여 소설의 중국 문화 특성과 마술적 사실주의의 서사방식을 보여준다. 본문은 수용이론을 바탕으 로 모옌의 소설『붉은 수수밭』에서 나타나는 색채어가 한국어로 번역될 때 원래 의 색채가 유지되는지 전환되는 지를 검토하여 역자의 번역 전략을 살펴봤다. 이 를 통해 역자가 어떻게 언어간과 문화간의 번역을 실현하는지, 그리고 어떻게 중국 문화 특징이 강한 『붉은 수수밭』을 한국에 소개하고 한국 독자들이 받아들도 록 하는지를 분석했다.
