In the field of the pastoral ministry and the religious life of believers, preaching is inextricably linked with worship. Unfortunately, these two ministry of the Christian church are gradually being separated in the religious life of believers and the pastoral ministry. In practical theology field as well, the academic galapagosization is gradually deepening as homiletics and worship studies follow their own research methodology and focus on their own research topics. The researcher seeks a logical foundation to study homiletics and worship studies according to a holistic research methodology. The Christian worship and preaching revolve around one axis of the proclamation of the transcendent Word of God and the other axis of human response and devotion to the Word of God proclaimed and enacted. The Christian worship re-enacts and celebrates the transcendent and infinite humiliation of God and the self-sacrificing love of Jesus Christ through visible symbols and symbolic acts. The Christian preaching proclaims the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the grace of atonement, and the power of resurrection, contained in the symbolism of bread and wine, presented before the congregation gathered for worship. When worship and sermons are connected with each other in the heart of believers through visible and audible words, worship participants can personally receive the Triune God who comes through the Word, walk with Him, and move toward life change and the spiritual maturity. The researcher first introduced the independent research methodology of worship theology and preaching theology in order to find a research methodology to study worship and preaching from an integrated perspective. Next, the researcher introduced the hermeneutical practical theological methodology for one possible integrated research methodology. Representative scholars in this field include Charles Gerkin, Thomas Groom, and Daniel Louw. In addition, the researcher presented a sacramental perspective that understands worship and preaching as visible and audible words, and Walter Benjamin's philosophy of language that supports it. Finally, as another methodology to integrate worship and preaching, the researcher introduced narrative methodology and the symbolic interaction theory. Through a research methodology that studies worship and preaching in an integrated manner, the researcher not only establishes a more organic relationship between worship ministry and preaching ministry, but also suggests the more holistic research methodology for worship studies and homiletics as connected in the pastoral ministry fields.

목회 현장과 신자들의 신앙생활에서, 설교는 예배와 불가분리의 관계를 맺고 있다. 그러 나 아쉽게도 목회 현장에서 이 두 가지 사역이 점차 분리되고 있다. 게다가 실천신학에서도 설교학과 예배학이 독자적인 연구방법론을 따라서 독자적인 연구 주제에 집중함으로 점차 실천신학의 갈라파고스화가 심화하고 있다. 연구자는 이런 문제점을 개선하고 예배학과 설교학을 통합적인 실천신학의 연구방법론에 따라 연구할 수 있는 논리적인 토대를 모색하 였다. 예배학과 설교학을 통합적인 관점에서 연구할 연구방법론을 모색하고자 먼저 예배신학 과 설교신학의 독자적인 연구방법론을 소개하였다. 이어서 한 가지 가능한 통합적인 연구 방법론을 위하여 해석학적인 실천신학의 연구방법론을 소개하였다. 이 분야의 대표적인 학자로는 찰스 거킨과 토마스 그룸, 그리고 다니엘 로우가 있다. 또 연구자는 예배와 설교를 각각 보이는 말씀과 들리는 말씀으로 이해하는 성례전적 관점과 이를 뒷받침하는 발터 벤야민의 언어 철학을 제시하였다. 끝으로 예배와 설교를 통합할 또 다른 방법론으로 내러 티브 방법론과 상징을 통한 상호작용 의례에 관한 이론을 소개하였다. 예배와 설교를 통합적으로 연구하는 연구방법론을 통하여 목회 현장에서 예배 사역과 설교 사역이 더욱 유기적인 연관성을 맺고서 이루어질 뿐만 아니라, 실천신학의 영역에서 도 예배학과 설교학이 공통의 연구방법론에 근거하여 더욱 통합적인 연구가 진행될 수 있기를 기대한다.
