This article is a study on prayer, which is an important spiritual practice, revealing the identity of the church. It’s aim is to find the wholeness and practical meaning of prayer and practice. For this, it explores that prayer and practice not only give life but also sanctify each other when they integrate with each other. It argues that true prayer accompanies practice. It shows that prayer does not end simply as a sound for pleading or meditation, but has a characteristic that leads to daily practice. Suggesting further that everyday life in a broad sense is also a prayer life, it specifically explains that both prayer and daily living are spiritual ways of living in the world. Furthermore, it discusses that practice as well as prayer is an act of cocreation with the Holy Spirit in the Kingdom of God. In particular, it points out the importance of prayer as a public practice for the Kingdom of God because prayer without public practice loses its vitality. Prayer without practice in life cannot be a prayer fully offered to God. In this context, as a practical meaning of wholeness of prayer and practice, three driving forces of prayer are presented: prayer as the driving force of calling, prayer as the driving force of holiness and prayer as the driving force of the common good.

본 논문은 교회의 색조와 정체성을 드러내는 중요한 영적 실천인 기 도에 대한 연구이다. 특히 기도와 실천의 통전성과 실천적 의미를 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 기도와 실천이 통전성 안에 있을 때 서로에게 생명력 을 줄 뿐 아니라 서로를 성화시킬 수 있다는 것을 제시하였다. 진정한 기도는 실천을 동반한다는 것을 논하였다. 기도는 단순히 간청 을 위한 소리나 묵상으로만 끝나는 것이 아니라 일상의 실천으로 이어지 면서 지속되는 특성이 있다는 것을 밝혔다. 나아가 일상의 삶도 넓은 의 미에서 기도의 삶이라는 것을 제시하였다. 기도하는 것과 일상의 삶 모 두 세상에서 영적인 삶의 방식이라는 것을 구체적으로 설명하였다. 나아가 기도뿐만 아니라 실천도 성령과 더불어 하나님 나라에서 공 동 창조하는 행위임을 밝혔다. 특히 공적 실천이 뒤따르지 않는 기도는 생명력을 잃게 되기 때문에 하나님 나라를 위한 공적 실천을 위한 기도 의 중요성을 밝혔다. 사회 안에서 삶의 실천이 뒤따르지 않는 기도는 하나님께 온전히 드려진 기도가 될 수 없다는 것을 제시하였다. 이러한 맥락 안에서 기도와 실천의 통전성의 실천적 의미로서 소명의 원동력 으로 기도, 거룩함의 원동력으로서 기도, 공공선의 원동력으로서 기도 를 제시하였다.
