This study examined the effect of negative emotionality on aggressive behavior and investigated whether executive function difficulty mediated the relationship between negative emotionality and aggressive behavior with longitudinal data. The participants were 1,299 Korean children(658 boys and 641 girls) from the Panel Study on Korean Children(PSKC). The present study analyzed the 4th(2011), 8th(2015), and 10th(2017) data by using PROCESS macro program (Model 4). Our analysis indicated that negative emotionality had a significant effect on the later child’s aggressive behavior, and executive function difficulty had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between negative emotionality and aggressive behavior longitudinally. Based on this significant mediating effect, it is necessary to prevent a child’s aggressive behavior by prevention or intervention programs improving the child’s negative emotionality and executive functioning difficulty.

본 연구는 유아기의 부정적 정서성 기질과 학령기 아동의 공격행동 간의 관계에서 아동의 집행기능 곤란의 종단적 매개효과를 밝히고자 하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널 (Panel Study on Korean Children, PSKC) 4차(2011년), 8차(2015년), 10차(2017년) 조사에 참여한 아동 1,299명(남아 658명, 여아 641명)을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였다. SPSS 26.0과 PROCESS Macro의 매개모형 Model 4를 이용하여 집행기능 곤란의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 유아기의 부정적 정서성이 학령기 아동의 공격행동에 미치는 영향에서 아동의 집행기능의 매개효과가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 유아기 부정적 정서성이 학령기 아동의 공격행동에 미치 는 직접적인 영향 뿐 아니라 집행기능을 통해서도 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연 구결과는 학령기 아동의 공격행동을 감소하고 예방하기 위해서는 유아기 부정적 정서성 뿐 아니라 아동기 집행기능 곤란을 완화시킬 수 있는 개입 또한 필요함을 시사한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논의하였다.
