Fear of failure in entrepreneurial situations generally negatively affects entrepreneurial intentions. However, according to previous studies, the effect of fear of entrepreneurial failure on entrepreneurial intentions can vary depending on sub-factors or through self-efficacy. In this study, we investigated how the sub-factors of entrepreneurship and the fear of entrepreneurial failure each affect entrepreneurial intentions in an uncertain start-up environment. In particular, by using entrepreneurial self-efficacy as a mediating variable, we investigated how the sub-factors of the fear of entrepreneurial failure affect entrepreneurial intentions. As a result of this study, only the fear of financial loss among the fears of entrepreneurial failure had a negative effect on the entrepreneurial intention, and entrepreneurship had a positive effect on entrepreneurial intention. In the analysis of the mediating effect mediated by entrepreneurial self-efficacy, fear of financial loss among the fear of entrepreneurial failure had a negative effect on entrepreneurial intention, whereas fear of psychological loss had a positive effect on entrepreneurial intention. It was found that only risk-taking had a positive effect on entrepreneurial intention through entrepreneurial self-efficacy. The implications of the above research results are to improve academic understanding of the nature of the fear of entrepreneurial failure, and that policy makers should develop a practical education program that can improve the entrepreneurial self-efficacy and reduce the fear of entrepreneurial failure. In future research, it is necessary to study in what direction the sub-factors of the fear of entrepreneurial failure affect the entrepreneurial intention in any start-up situation.

창업 상황에서 실패에 대한 두려움은 일반적으로 창업 의도에 부정적 역할을 한다. 하지만, 어떤 선행연구에 의하면 창업실패두려움이 하위요인에 따라, 또는 자기효능감이라는 매개변수를 통해 창업의도에 미치는 영향이 달라질 수 있음을 보여준다. 따라서, 본 연구는 실패부담을 안고 있는 불확실한 창업환경에서 기업가정신과 창업실패두려움의 하위요인들이 창업의도에 각각 어 떠한 영향을 미치는 지 알아보고자 하였다. 특별히 창업 자기효능감을 매개변수로 하여 창업실 패두려움의 하위요인들이 창업의도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지 알아보았다. 이를 위해 선행연구 를 토대로 가설과 연구모형을 수립하였으며, 20-50대 성인 중에서 현재 창업 중이 아닌 자를 대 상으로 한 설문조사 결과를 SPSS 22.0과 Process Macro 3.5를 활용하여 실증 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 창업실패두려움 중 재무적 손실 두려움만이 창업의도에 부정적 영향을 주었고, 기업가정 신은 혁신성, 진취성, 위험감수성 모두 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 창업 자기효능감을 매개로한 매개 효과 분석에서 창업실패두려움 중 재무적 손실 두려움은 창업의도에 부정적 영향을 준 반면, 심 리적 손실 두려움은 창업의도에 긍정적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으며, 기업가정신에서는 위험 감수성만이 창업 자기효능감을 매개로 창업의도에 긍정적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 시사점은 창업실패두려움의 속성에 대한 학문적 이해를 증진하였다는 점과 창업 교육 시 창업 자기효능감을 향상시키고 창업실패두려움을 줄일 수 있는 실무중심의 교육 프로그램 개발 등이 필요하다는 점이다. 아직까지 창업실패두려움의 창업의도에 대한 긍정적 역할에 대한 국내 연구는 거의 없는 편이다. 향후 창업실패두려움의 어떤 하위요인들이 어떠한 창업상황에서 창업 의도에 어떻게 영향을 주는 지 다양하게 연구될 필요가 있다.
