This study aims to investigate the actual condition of environmental education and the recognition of the importance of environmental education contents of early childhood teachers. Data were collected by questionnaires for early childhood teachers and analyzed through SPSS 25.0 program. The results of this study are as follows. First, The ratio of early childhood environmental education in connection with life themes was high. The activity type was high in the large-group discourse, field learning, and outdoor play, and the use material was found to be using internet, books, and audiovisual material. It was found that it is difficult to select contents in the environmental education for early childhood and to teach them appropriate for the development level. The problems were the systematic curriculum composition, lack of reference materials. Second, the recognition of the importance of environmental education contents was generally high, the importance of environmental education contents was highly recognized in the case of high age, career, and academic background and national and public kindergarten teacher. The results of this study can be used as basic data to set the desirable direction of early childhood environmental education.

본 연구의 목적은 유아교사의 유아 환경교육 실태와 환경교육내용의 중요도 인식에 대한 차이를 파악하는 데 있다. 유아교사 277명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하여 SPSS 25.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분 석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아 환경교육은 생활주제와 연계해서 실시하는 비율이 높 게 나타났다. 활동형태는 이야기나누기, 현장학습, 바깥놀이의 빈도가 높았고, 활용자료는 인터넷, 출 판도서, 시청각 자료를 많이 활용하는 것으로 나타났다. 환경교육 지도 시 내용 선정 및 유아의 발 달 수준에 적합한 교수방법의 어려움이 있으며, 체계적인 교육과정 구성, 참고자료 부족 등이 문제 점으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아교사의 환경교육 내용에 대한 중요도 인식은 전반적으로 높았고, 연령과 경력이 많고, 학력이 높을수록, 근무기관이 국공립 유치원인 경우 환경교육 내용에 대한 중요도를 높게 인식하였다. 본 연구결과는 유아환경교육의 바람직한 방향을 설정하는 데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
