Plate glass products of South Korea have kept their high competitive edge in quality and stable supply, but these products are facing difficulties from the pressure of price increases due to the rising price of raw materials. Companies have to react to lower supply prices of competitive emerging nations while maintaining their high quality and stable supply. Logistical costs have a huge part in the market of processed plate glass compared to other industries, which calls for measures to make breakthrough logistics management plans and increase its competitiveness. Thus, this study proposes a way of simplifying the process of loading processed plate glass and improving vehicle loading rates with pallet racks instead of the A- or L-frame racks currently used in the circulation of plate glass in order to overcome the structural limitations of loading processed plate glass products. The study also proposed a plan for the minimization of logistical costs by low- ering empty transfer rates in returning vehicles through joint transportation and delivery among plate glass processing companies within the same zone and reducing the percentage of empty transfers in returning vehicles to the minimum through the handling of different types of products in different physical forms other than processed plate glass products.

국내 판유리 제품은 품질 및 공급 안정성에서 높은 경쟁력을 유지하고 있지만 원재료 가격 상 승에 따른 가격 인상 압력에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 따라서 높은 품질과 공급 안정성을 유지하면서 동 시에 경쟁하고 있는 신흥국가들의 낮은 공급 가격에 대응하여야만 한다. 특히, 가공 판유리 시장은 타 산업에 비하여 높은 비중의 물류비용을 차지하고 있어 획기적인 물류운영 방안 도출 및 경쟁력 제고 를 위한 대책 수립이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가공 판유리 제품 적재의 구조적 한계를 극복 하기 위한 방안으로 기존 판유리 유통에 활용되고 있는 A-frame 랙 또는 L-frame 랙을 대신하여 Pallet 랙을 활용하여 가공 판유리를 적재하는 공정을 단순화시키고 차량 적재율을 향상시키기 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 또한 동일 권역 내 판유리 가공업체들 사이에 공동 수· 배송을 운용함으로써 회차 시 공차율을 감소시키고 가공 판유리 제품 이외에 물리적 형태가 다른 이종제품 취급을 가능하게 하 여 공차로 되돌아가는 비율을 최소화함으로써 물류비용 최소화를 위한 방안을 제시하였다.
