The purpose of this article is to open the reality of Kim Hill Mun Jeon and reveal its compositional characteristics. Yet to be studied in earnest, Kim Hill Mun Jeon is a two-volume, two-book Korean novel that combines the story of heroes, the story of brotherhood conflicts, and the exhibition of Taoist figures. War novels gained wide popularity, and brotherhood conflict is a pixel that is easy to convey the theme of good and evil through the process of developing and resolving conflicts. In the process of resolving the conflict of brothers by Taoist imagination, the tradition of Taoist portraits is also adopted. In addition, the introduction of written language and Chinese poetry shows the tradition of Chuachi(傳奇) and the combination of Korean classical full-length novels since the 19th century. This makes it possible to assume that Kim Hill Mun Jeon is the result of an attempt by a writer with Chinese scholarship since the 19th century to create a novel in a new style as a result of enjoying a variety of works.

이 글은 아직 본격적인 연구가 이루어지지 않은 ｢김힐문전(金詰紋傳)｣ 을 대상으로 작품의 실상을 개관하고 그 구성적 특징을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. ｢김힐문전｣은 2권 2책의 국문소설로서 영웅의 군담과 형제갈 등담 및 도교 인물전이 결구된 작품이다. 군담소설은 폭넓은 인기를 얻었던 소설 유형이고 형제갈등담은 갈등의 전개와 해결의 과정을 통해 권선징악의 주제를 전달하기에 용이한 화소이다. 또 형제갈등을 도교적 상상력에 의해 해결하는 과정에서 도교 인물전의 전통을 변형하여 수용하기 도 했다. 이 외에도 현토체에 가까운 문어체의 구사와 언해 한시의 삽입은 전기소설의 전통과 19세기 이후 국문장편소설의 습합 양상도 보여준다. 이는 ｢김힐문전｣이 최소한 19세기 이후 한학적 소양을 가진 작자가 다양한 소설작품을 향유한 결과 새로운 양식의 소설 창작을 시도한 결과물 임을 추정할 수 있게 한다.
