This study considers the challenges and achievements of vocabulary list selection for Korean language education. The analysis focused on research methods, procedures, and results in selecting vocabulary lists in Korean education. The analysis of the research methods and procedures targeted corpus and frequently surveyed data underlying each study. In addition, the validity of vocabulary lists was examined by analyzing the objective and subjective methods utilized for vocabulary selection. The results and implications of vocabulary selection identified in this study are as follows: First, compared to the results of lexical list selection from the 1990s to the early 2000s, recent lists show objective and granular methods and procedures. Second, recent studies have broken down the class-specific vocabulary considered mastery. Third, the differences between the lists for each study were resolved. Fourth, most of the vocabulary forms presented was consistent. Fifth, vocabulary that is not used due to the current situation was excluded from the list and new vocabulary was included. However, the following issues should be addressed: First, the current situation of Korean should be reflected through the supplementation of the corpus built around data prior to the 2000s. Second, data that have become indicators of objective assessment should also be supplemented. Third, it is necessary to build and utilize appropriate materials to select vocabulary lists keeping in mind diversified learner variables. (Kyonggi University)

본 연구는 한국어교육을 위한 어휘 목록 선정 연구의 성과와 과제를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구를 위해 국가 주도로 이루어진 어휘 목록 선정 연구의 방법과 절차, 결과를 분석하였다. 먼저 연구 방법과 절차의 분석을 위해 각 연구들이 토대로 한 말뭉치와 빈도 조사 자료를 살펴보았다. 그리고 어휘 선정에 적용한 객관적 방법, 주관적 방법의 타당성을 검토하였다. 연구 결과 최근의 어휘 선정 연구가 이룬성과와 그것의 의의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 1990년대에서 2000년대 초반까지의 어휘 목록 선정 결과와 비교할 때 최근의 목록은 방법과 절차가 객관적이고 세분화된 양상을 보인다. 둘째, 최근의 연구들은 숙달도를 고려한 등급별 어휘를 세분화하여 정리하였다. 셋째, 각 연구별 목록 간의 차이가 해결되었다. 넷째, 제시된 어휘의 형태가 대부분일치하였다. 다섯째, 현 상황에 맞지 않아 사용하지 않는 어휘들이 목록에서 제외되고 새로운 어휘들이 포함되었다. 그러나 현재의 시점을 고려할 때 보완해야 하는 문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2000년대 이전의 자료를 중심으로 구축된 말뭉치의 보완을 통해 현재 한국어의 상황을반영해야 한다. 둘째, 객관적 평정의 지표가 된 자료들 역시 2000년대초반까지의 자료라는 점에서 보완되어야 한다. 셋째, 다양해진 학습자 변인을 고려한 어휘 목록 선정을 위해 이에 적합한 자료를 구축하고 활용할 필요가 있다.
