The purpose of this study is to examine the method and meaning of storytelling through dance performance in the dance film , the graduation work of the 2019 Korea National University of Arts Film Department. In general, domestic dance films tend to be reborn as musical films, with dance and song having the same weight in the play. On the contrary, this work lowers the weight of dialogue and ‘Crossover’various dance genres to perform a physical performance. The physical performance is revealed as a reflection of the character's psychology in the situation in the play, and by observing the character's movements, the audience becomes a companion on the journey of self-discovery with dynamic and intense energy. In other words, the physical movement of is not just a simple dance, but the process itself in which the characters in the play find their own desires and liberation in their own way by implementing the ‘Dance Virus’in the form of a performance. This paper examines the development of storytelling with the main character, Yuwol, a child. It also examines what kind of transference experience the narrative has in the audience. In the past, non-verbal performances were limited to the presentation of visual elements (showing images) through the actors' actions. In order to effectively reveal the narrative, actively attempted the delicate movements of each character as a performance. Specifically, after mentioning specific scenes about how the narrative formation of the play is revealed in the actions of the characters, the audience closely analyzes the flow of the play through the connection between the situation and the dance that the audience can infer through each scene. The audience will be able to add theatrical imagination and immersion in the dance film through the narrative of the movement, and will be interested in appreciating the work with a multi-faceted interpretation in relation to the message intended by the director. At this time, it can be said that the audience follows the narrative of the movement and accepts the character's journey as their own to achieve a psychophysical transition experience.

이 연구는 2019 한국예술종합학교 영화과 졸업 작품인 댄스영화 <유월>에서 춤 퍼포먼스를 통한 스토리텔링 구현 방식과 그 의미를 고찰하는데 목적을 둔다. 일반적으로 국내 댄스영화는 춤과 노래가 극 안에서 동일한 비중을 가지고 뮤지컬영화로 재탄생하는 경향이 있다. 이와 달리 이 작품은 대사의 비중을 낮추고 다양한 춤 장르를 ‘크로스오버’하여 신체적 퍼포먼스를 실행하고 있다. 신체적 퍼포먼스는 극 중 상황에서 인물의 심리를 반영한 모습으로 드러나며 관객은 인물의 움직임을 관찰함으로서 역동적이고 강렬한 에너지와 함께 자아 찾기의 여정의 동반자가 된다. 즉 <유월>의 신체적 움직임은 단순한 춤에 불과한 것이 아니라 ‘댄스바이러스’를 퍼포먼스의 형태로 구현함으로서 극 중 인물이 각자의 방식으로 자신의 욕구와 해방을 찾아가는 과정 자체인 것이다. 본고는 주인공인 어린이 유월을 중심으로 스토리텔링의 전개를 파악한다. 또한 움직임이 갖는 내러티브가 관객에게 어떠한 전이체험을 발생시키는가를 고찰한다. 과거 넌버벌 퍼포먼스가 배우의 액션을 통한 시각적 요소(Showing Image)의 제시에 그쳤다면, <유월>은 내러티브를 효과적으로 드러내기 위해 각 인물의 섬세한 움직임을 퍼포먼스로서 적극 시도하였다. 구체적으로 극의 내러티브 형성은 인물의 행동에서 어떻게 드러나는지에 대해 특정 장면을 언급하여 밝힌 후, 관객들이 각 장면을 통해 유추할 수 있는 상황과 춤의 연결로 극의 흐름을 면밀히 분석한다. 관객은 움직임의 내러티브(narrative)를 통해 댄스영화에서 연극적 상상력과 몰입을 더할 수 있으며 감독이 의도한 메시지와 관련하여 다각도적인 해석으로 작품 감상에 흥미를 얻게 될 것이다. 이때 관객은 움직임의 내러티브(narrative)를 따라가며 인물의 여정을 자신의 것으로 받아들여 심리 신체적 전이체험을 이루게 된다고 할 수 있다. 이에 본고는 기본적 고찰에 이어 본격적으로 크로스오버를 통한 넌버벌 퍼포먼스가 어떻게 작품의 내러티브를 형성하는지 고찰하고, 주인공의 심리가 춤을 통해 어떻게 표출되어 관객의 전이체험으로 이어지는지 분석한다.
