This is to explore the practical meaning of the lamenting prayer by looking into the horizons of the lament in the Psalms. It is also to suggest that the languages and the ways of prayer in the lament of the Psalms are important to be used for prayer languages, as imperfect creatures we have no choice but to plea to God about our internal negative emotions. For this, it first looks into the characteristics of the metaphoric languages in the Psalms. It discloses that the metaphoric language in the Psalms not only speaks to us but also allows freedom for us to speak, and emphasizes that the metaphoric languages help us develop our emotions which brings a dynamic to our experiences. In this context, it suggests that the languages of the lament in the Psalms have the characteristics for us to develop and experience a new personality. Furthermore, it discusses that the lament of the Psalms offers the fundamental aspects which help us pray to God when we feel guilt, pain, sorrow, anger and discomfort. Then, it discloses that the lament of the Psalms guides us to a new place where we can leave everything to God’s sovereignty. Finally, it suggests the practical meaning of the complaining prayers in the lament of the Psalms. That is complaining prayer as a denial of evil, complaining prayer as evidence of being fully alive, complaining prayer as God’s curriculum, God as a recipient of complaining prayer, complaining prayer as the transforming journey of a person are suggested.

본 연구는 시편의 애가에 나타난 기도의 지평을 탐구하여 애가 또는 탄식 기도의 실천적 의미를 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 불완전한 피조물로서 인간이 경험할 수밖에 없는 내면의 부정적인 감정들을 하나님께 탄원 할 때, 시편의 애가에 나타난 기도의 언어와 방법은 중요한 기도 언어 로 사용될 수 있음을 구체적으로 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 먼저 시편의 애가에 나타난 언어의 은유적 특성 에 대해 살펴보았다. 이에 시편은 우리에게 말할 뿐만 아니라 우리에게 말하도록 자유를 허락하는 은유적 특성이 있다고 밝혔다. 또한 그 은유 적 언어는 우리의 감성을 개발하도록 돕고, 우리의 경험의 역동성을 가 져오게 한다는 점을 강조하였다. 이런 맥락에서 본 연구는 시편의 언어 가 우리 가운데 새로운 인간성을 유발시키고 경험하게 하는 특성이 있 다는 점을 제시하였다. 더 나아가 본 연구는 시편의 애가가 하나님 앞에서 우리의 죄의식, 고통, 슬픔, 분노, 불평 등을 위해 어떻게 기도해야 할지를 도와주는 전 형적인 양식과 방법을 제공해 준다는 것을 논하였다. 또한 시편의 애가 는 하나님께 양도하는 방법을 안내(guide)해 주고, 지도(direction)해 준 다는 점을 밝혔다. 이러한 논의를 통하여 본 논문은 시편의 애가의 불평 기도가 가지는 실천적 의미를 제시하였다. 악에 대한 부정으로서 불평 기도, 충만하게 살아있다는 증거로서 불평 기도, 불평 기도의 수신자로서 하나님, 변형 의 여정으로서 불평 기도의 실천적 의미를 제시하였다.
