The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning and the role of environmental identity as a motivational component which induces environmental practice in moral psychology. In this study, the critical thinking about moral motivation for pro-environmental behavior is presented, and the implication of environmental identity as a type of moral identity and the significance of forming an environmental identity is examined. In addition, the importance of environmental identity as a motivation component for pro-environmental behavior is emphasized, and the environmental identity, which acts as an authentic moral motivation component is clarified. Also, the significance of cultivating environmental identity in moral education is proposed.

본 연구는 도덕 심리학적 관점에서 환경적 실천을 이끄는 동기화 요 소로서 환경적 정체성의 의미와 역할에 대해 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 환경친화적 행동을 위한 도덕적 동기화와 관련된 문 제의식을 제기하고 도덕적 정체성으로서 환경적 정체성의 의미와 환경 적 정체성 형성의 의의에 대해 검토하였다. 또한, 환경친화적 행동을 위한 동기화 요인으로서 환경적 정체성의 중요성을 강조하며 진정한 도덕적 동기화 요소로 환경적 정체성의 역할을 밝히고자 한다. 그리고 도덕적 실천을 지향한 도덕교육에서 환경적 정체성 형성의 의미를 제 안하고자 한다.
