This study set out to analyze gender differences in the six-dimensional model of human personality(HEXACO) and the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence between boys and girls in elementary school and examine relations between HEXACO and the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence, figuring out the explanatory power of HEXACO for the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence. For this, a survey was conducted with 760 fifth and sixth graders attending six elementary schools in Gyeonggi-do Province measuring HEXACO and the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence. In order to prove this, t-test was conducted to figure out the difference in HEXACO and the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence between boys and girls in elementary school, and correlation analysis was performed to examine relations between HEXACO and the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence between boys and girls in elementary school. Also, stepwise multiple regression analysis was carried out to examine the explanatory power of HEXACO for the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence between boys and girls. As a result, it was confirmed that there were statistically significant differences in emotionality, openness to experience, and extroversion of HEXACO between boys and girls in elementary school, in the degree of bullying in school violence between boys and girls in elementary school., and between honesty-humility, agreeableness, and extroversion among boys, while between honesty-humility and agreeableness among girls than the other dimensions were there relatively higher negative correlations in terms of the relations between HEXACO and the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence between boys and girls in elementary school. Also, there were common personality dimensions that had impacts on the degree of bullying and victimization in school violence between boys and girls in elementary school, and their explanatory power had a difference between boys and girls. Based on these findings, the significance of the result of the study, limitations of the study, and suggestions on future researches were described.

이 연구는 남녀 초등학생을 대상으로 성격 6요인과 학교폭력 피ㆍ가해 정도에 대한 성별 차이를 분석하고, 성격 6요인과 학교폭력 피ㆍ가해 정도 간에 관계를 살펴본 후, 성격 6요인이 학교폭력 피ㆍ가해 정도 에 어느 정도의 설명력을 갖는지 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경기지역 6개 초등학교에 재학 중 인 5, 6학년 760명의 남녀 초등학생들을 대상으로 성격 6요인, 학교폭력 피ㆍ가해 정도를 측정하는 설문조 사를 실시하였다. 이를 검증하기 위해 남녀 초등학생의 성격 6요인과 학교폭력 피․가해 정도 차이는 t-검 증을 실시하였고, 남녀 초등학생의 성격 6요인과 학교폭력 피ㆍ가해 정도 간에 관계를 알아보기 위해 상 관분석을 실시하였다. 또한, 남녀 초등학생의 성격 6요인이 학교폭력 정도에 대해 가지는 설명력을 알아보 기 위해서 단계선택을 활용한 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 남녀 초등학생은 성격 6요인 중 정서 성, 개방성, 외향성에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었고, 남녀 초등학생의 가해 정도는 유의미한 차이 가 있었으며, 남녀 초등학생의 성격 6요인과 학교폭력 피․가해 정도 간에 관계에서 남학생은 정직겸손성, 원만성, 외향성이, 여학생은 정직겸손성, 원만성이 다른 요인들에 비해 상대적으로 높은 부적 상관관계를 나타내었다. 또한, 남녀 초등학생의 학교폭력 피․가해 정도에 영향을 미치는 공통적 성격 요인이 있었으 며, 요인의 설명력은 남녀에 따라 차이가 있었다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 이 연구의 결과에 대한 의의, 연구의 제한점 및 후속 연구를 위한 제언이 기술되었다.
