This study examined the mediating effect of emotion regulation on the relationship between parental attachment and subjective well-being in children. A total of 309 fourth- and fifth-grade children in South Korea participated. Using structural equation modeling, the results indicated that the complete mediation model fit the data better than the partial mediation model based on adequate fit indices. The results of bootstrapping showed that emotion regulation significantly mediated both relationships between maternal and paternal attachment security and subjective well-being. The results suggest that interventions focused on maternal and paternal attachment security and emotion regulation can be effective in enhancing children’s subjective well-being. Limitations of the present study and future research directions are discussed.

이 연구는 아동의 부모애착 안정성과 주관적 안녕감의 관계가 정서조절에 의해 매개되는지 를 검증하는 데 목적을 두었다. 초등학교 4, 5학년 학생 309명이 연구에 참여하였다. 구조방 정식모형을 사용하여 자료를 분석한 결과, 우수한 적합도 지수와 함께 완전매개모형이 부분 매개모형보다 자료에 더 부합한 것으로 나타났다. 부트스트랩핑을 통한 매개효과 검증 결과, 모애착과 주관적 안녕감의 관계에서 정서조절의 매개효과, 그리고 부애착과 주관적 안녕감의 관계에서 정서조절의 매개효과가 모두 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이러한 결과는 부모와의 안정 적인 애착관계 안에서 아동의 정서가 효과적으로 조절됨으로써 아동이 보다 높은 수준의 안 녕감을 유지하는 것으로 해석될 수 있다. 아울러 안정적인 부모애착이 아동의 정서조절 능력 발달을 촉진시킴으로써 아동의 주관적 안녕감에 기여함을 시사한다. 또한 이 연구결과는 정 서조절 및 주관적 안녕감과의 관련에 있어서 모애착과 부애착의 독립적인 역할을 강조한다. 이 연구는 정서조절이나 부모애착에 중점을 둔 개입이 아동의 주관적 안녕감 증진에 효과적 일 수 있음을 시사한다. 끝으로 연구의 제한점과 함께 후속연구에 대한 방향을 제안하였다.
