Seongsu-dong has grown into an integrated district where industries related to the handmade shoe industry are concentrated in Korea, and has been designated as one of the five specialized industries designated by the Seoul Business Agency along with mechanical metals, sewing, printing and jewelry. With the support of Seongdong-gu and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the theme of Seongsu shoes was started in November 2013, and public facilities for revitalizing handmade shoes began to be created. These public facilities played a major role in developing the handmade shoe industry into a handmade shoe cluster in Seongsu-dong, but Seongsu-dong experienced pain through gentrification, and now commercial areas other than handmade shoes are increasing. As a result, it is having a hard time forming a handmade shoe specialty. This study analyzed the past and present of Seongsu-dong's handmade shoe-specialized street, and studied the cases of regional specialized support projects. The purpose of this study was to prepare for the future of Seongsu-dong Handmade Shoes Specialized Street through analysis of the past and present of Seongsu-dong Handmade Shoes Specialized Street.

성수동은 국내에서 수제화(⼿製靴)산업과 관련된 산업체들이 밀집된 집적지구로 성장하여 기계금속, 봉제, 인쇄, 주얼리와 함께 서울산업진흥원에서 지정한 5대 특화업종으로 지정이 되었다. 성동구와 서울시 지원으로 2013년 11월 성수 신발을 주제로 시 작하여 수제화 활성화를 위한 공공시설분야가 조성되기 시작했다. 이러한 공공시설은 수제화 산업을 성수동의 수제화 클러스터 로 발전시키는데 큰 역학을 하였으나 성수동은 젠트리피케이션을 통한 진통을 경험하게 되었고, 현재는 수제화를 제외한 다른 분야의 상업지역이 증가하고 있다. 그로 인해 수제화 전문거리를 형성하는 데 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구는 성수동 수제화 특화 거리의 과거와 현재를 분석하고, 지역 특화지원사업의 사례를 연구하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 성수동 수제화 특화 거리의 과거, 현재에 관한 분석을 통해 성수동 수제화 특화 거리의 미래를 준비하는 데 그 목적을 두고자 하였다.
