The purpose of this study is to examine the martial arts contents in the 『Muyedobotongji』 as the value of 'physical education'. The research method is literature research, and its significance is to provide basic data for students to seek a potential career as physical education'. The conclusions are follwing in these. First, While preparing for this thematic exploration portfolio contest, It is meaningful to search for interesting facts in the vast flow of Korean history which are related to physical education' and choose the subject of 『Muyedobotongji』 from among them. Second, the researcher was able to check the pictures and contents of various martial arts contained in the real review of the 『 Muyedobotongji』 registered as a UNESCO World Recorded Heritage, through a field trip to the Jangseogak of The Academy of Korean Studies. It was found that martial arts is highly related to 'physical education'. Third, the historical significance of 『Muyedobotongji』 was to provide a theoretical foundation based on the legitimacy of Korean sports history in general physical education textbooks as well as just an approach to history subjects. It will be of great significance if we use it for the part of training based on our own historical background. Fourth, the 24 martial arts in the 『Muyedobotongji』 can be made into educational contents that will be used as a subject called‘traditional martial arts' or‘traditional sports’for the purpose of prctical physical education classes today. These advantages prove that 『Muyedobotongji』 could give useful information to students preparing for careers as‘physical education.

이 연구의 목적은 『무예도보통지』에 실려 있는 무예 내용을 검토하여 ‘체육교육’과 연관된 진로 방향을 탐색하는 것이다. 연구방법은 문헌 연구이며, 연구의 의의는‘체육교육’으로 대학의 진로를 모색하는 학생 들에게 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 이에 대한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 금번 <한국사> 주제탐구 포트폴리오 대회를 준비하면서 방대한 역사의 흐름에서 연구자의 진로와 연관된‘체육교육’에 대한 흥미로운 사실들을 찾아보고, 그 중에서 『무예도보통지』라는 주제를 선정하여 연 구하는 과정에 의의가 있었다. 둘째, 연구자는 한국학중앙연구원 장서각 현장답사를 통해 유네스코 세계기록유산으로 등재되어 있는 『무예도보통지』의 실물사료를 직접 보고 그 안에 담긴 여러가지 무예들에 대한 그림과 내용을 확인할 수 있었 다. 특히 손과 발을 이용하여 몸을 수련하는 신체교육인 무예가‘체육교 육’과 연관성이 높다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 『무예도보통지』의 역사적 의의 만으로도 단지 역사과목의 접근 뿐 아니라, 일반 체육 교과서에서도 한국체육사의 정통성의 기본으로 이론적인 토대를 제공하기에 손색이 없었다. 정말 우리만의 고유한 역사적 배경에서 신체를 훈련하는 부분을 수업에 활용한다면 큰 의의가 있을 것이다. 넷째, 『무예도보통지』에 실려 있는 24가지의 무예는 오늘날 체육교육 의 실기수업에서‘전통무예’ 또는‘전통스포츠’라는 과목으로 활용될 수 있는 교육콘텐츠로 만들수 있다. 이러한 점이 『무예도보통지』의 무예가‘체 육교육’으로 대학 진로를 준비하는 학생들에게 유용한 정보를 줄 수 있 었다.
