It modern war, it is recognized that it is effective to subdue the enemy at minimal cost by deploying advanced science, lethal weapon effects, and advanced power. Accordingly, the modern war pattern is changing from a war that uses large scale conventional power to a form of war that focuses on terrorism and guerrilla warfare. However, studies on guerrilla warfare in Korea are limited to the history of guerilla warfare, and research on countermeasure at the national and military level is insufficient due to recognition that guerrilla warfar is performed only specific units. This thesis investigated the development plan of modern guerrilla warfare through the case of the guerilla warfare of Unit 8240 of the U.N. Forces during the Korean War. As a research of for this, a literature research method was applied that suggested a method of applying the guerilla warfare on the Korean peninsula based on cases of guerrilla warfare during the Korean War, lesson learned, and implications. The purpose of this study is to prepare for possible events in the Korean peninsula by focusing on the construction of guerilla warfare in the event of a war on Korean Peninsula, deriving priorty development tasks necessary for the response of the nation and military, and presenting application plans.

현대전은 과학의 발달과 치명적인 무기효과, 첨단화된 전력을 배치하여 적을 최소한의 비용으로 굴복시키는 것이 효과적이라고 인식되고 있다. 이에 따라, 현대의 전쟁양상은 대규모 재래식 전력을 이용한 전쟁에서 테러 및 유격전(Guerrilla Warfare) 위주의 전쟁 형태 로 변하고 있다. 그러나 국내의 유격전에 대한 연구들은 유격전사에 대한 기록에 그치고 있으며 유격전은 특정부대에서만 수행한다는 인식으로 국가 및 군(軍) 차원의 대응 방안에 대한 연구는 미흡하였다. 본 논문은 6·25전쟁 당시 UN군의 제8240부대 유격전 사례를 통해 현대 유격전 발전방 안을 연구하였다. 연구 방법은 6·25전쟁 당시 유격전 사례 및 교훈과 시사점을 기초로 한반도에서의 유격전 적용 방안을 제시하는 문헌적 연구방법을 적용하였다. 본 연구는 한 반도에서의 전쟁 시 유격전 여건조성에 초점을 맞추고 국가와 군의 대응에 필요한 우선적 발전과제를 도출, 적용방안을 제시함으로써 한반도에서 발생가능한 사태에 대비하는데 목적이 있다.
