The thesis explores the significance of bodily-awareness for contemporary performer training through consideration of the characteristics and principles of training that Staniewski aims for. This research examines from a critical point of view the alienated body and the phenomena resulting from the rapid social-environmental change caused by the 4th Industrial Revolution and the Corona19 incident. This process has developed into questions about the place and role of our bodies in contemporary era as well as performer training, and to approach these questions reflection on the essential aspects of acting and training. This practical process led to (re)recognizing that relationships/mutuality can be restored through practical cooperation between humans(artists) and humans(artists), and that a pathway of possibility is opened to go beyond existing conventions. The point of connection that is reinforced here, that is, the relationship between each other, is directly in touch with the inclusiveness that we experience and perceive as the most important value at the same time. In other words, the passive body lost in a dual relationship, or the subordinate body (corpse) that wandered in the middle of the gap, is the shape of our current body and represents the reality of the system or convention. Staniewski’s training as an alternative approach to overcoming these problems, and the musicality and mutuality that act as its core principles by means of a source for realizing change by breaking away from the marginalized body we are currently facing. That is, the change is not triggered by a specific method, academic education, or such concept, but is manifested in the subjective body capable of ‘actually participating’ in life/art work, and the fact that the body at this time acts as the source of all truth.

본 연구는 스타니에프스키(Włodzimierz Staniewski)가 이끄는 폴란드의 실험극단, 가르치에니체(Gardzienice) 배우훈련의 특성과 원리에 대한 고찰을 바탕으로 동시대 연기자 교육에 있어 몸 훈련의 방향성과 그 의의를 모색하고자 한다. 본 연구는 우리가 직면하고 있는 급격한 사회-문화-환경의 변화 속에서 파생된 소외된 몸과 그 현상에서 빚어진 문제들을 비판적인 관점에서 살펴보았다. 이러한 소외된 몸은 인간/예술가 상호 간의 소통과 교감을 기반으로 형성되는 관계성의 부재에서 촉발된 것이며, ‘이 몸’은 개인의 의식과정 및 자의식을 중심으로 수동적-종속적인 형태로 드러난다. 이러한 맥락에서 연기자 교육 및 몸 훈련의 방향성을 재고하는 과정에 있어 무엇보다 수평적-포용적 관계가 부재한 삶/작업 환경은 이를 해소하기 위한 근본적인 대안이 될 수 없음을 밝힌다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위한 대안적 접근 방법으로써 스타니에프스키가 추구하고자 했던 두 가지 원칙, 즉 음악성(musicality)과 상호관계(mutuality)에 관한 논의를 중심으로 주체적 몸의 개념인 자연성과 그 근원이 되는 온정(warmth)의 원리에 주목하였다. 이 논의의 골자는 주체적인 몸을 바탕으로 삶/예술 행위에 있어 ‘실제 참여’를 말하는 것이며, 그 실현을 위한 접근 과정은 외부의 시선이나 기존의 보편적 기준에서 탈피한, 모든 진실의 근거지로 작용하는 배우 자신의 몸으로부터 촉발될 때 비로소 그 가능성이 열리게 된다는 사실이다. 여기서 독립적인 충동의 의미로써 음악성(자연성)은 인간/배우의 몸과 동떨어지거나 이원화된 구조 속에 있는 것이 아니라 인간/배우의 존재 및 행위와의 직접적인 관계성 속에 항상 공존하고 있다. 본 연구에서 고찰한 소외된 몸에 대한 비판적 논의와 더불어 다가올 ‘동시대 현실과 부합’하는 접근법을 모색하기 위한 과정이 학교 교육 및 현장 예술가들에게 있어 실제로 적용 가능한 훈련 방법을 모색하기 위한 토대로 작용하길 기대한다.
