- Purpose : This study was designed to investigate the effect of the general trading company's reputation risk on the corporate value of the general trading company. Research design, data, methodology : This study defines reputation risk as media negative report of two factors(namely, ① Corporate economic responsibility, ② Corporate social responsibility). and used Event Study as a research method. Negative news reports for 10 years(’10.1.1.~’20.12.31.) of 7 general trading companies were collected and set as event. And for the corporate value, the company's stock price was used. Results : As a result of the study, the general trading company's reputation risk significantly lowered corporate value. The size of the corporate value deterioration was around 10%. Conclusions : The results of this study suggest that the management of reputation risk is important because the reputation risk of a general trading company has a great influence on the corporate value. In addition, the general trading company demands that economic and social responsibilities be faithfully fulfilled.

- 본 논문은 종합상사의 평판위험이 기업 가치에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보고자 계획되었다. 따라서 선행연구를 통해 도출된 평판위험의 2가지 요인 즉, 경제적 책임과 사회적 책임에 대한 부정적 언론보도를 평판위험으로 조작정의 하고, 기업의 주가를 기업가치의 대용변수로 사용 하여 사건연구(Event Study)를 진행하였다. 연구결과 종합상사의 평판위험은 기업 가치를 통계 적으로 유의한 수준에서 약 8~12% 낮추는 것으로 확인되었다. 평판위험을 구성하는 경제적 책임과 사회적 책임에 대한 부정적 언론보도 모두 기업 가치를 크게 낮추었으며, 경제적 책임 위반이 사회적 책임 위반보다 더 큰 기업가치의 훼손이 있었다. 본 연구결과는 종합상사의 평 판위험은 기업의 가치에 약 10% 내외 영향을 준다는 것을 시사한다. 그리고 평판위험 구성요 소 중 기업의 본질에 가까운 경제적 책임을 다하는 것이 평판위험을 관리하는 중요한 방법임 을 시사한다. 더불어 사회적 책임 이행에도 많은 노력을 해야 한다는 것을 의미한다.
