This study is a case study to find out the effectiveness of art therapy on self-esteem and social skills of children in Grandparents-grandchildren Families. The subjects of the study are girls in the third grade of elementary school living in A city. This study divided the art therapy program into three stages for research purposes and conducted a total of 33 sessions once a week, 50 minutes each. The research tools used the self-esteem scale of Coopermith (1987) and the PRS-AC scale of children and adolescents peer relationship of Yang Yoon-ran (2004) modified and supplemented by the researcher. In addition, the degree of change in emotional expression related to self-esteem and social skills of the subjects was described in stages and sessions and qualitative analysis was conducted. The results of the study are as follows. First, art therapy has been shown to have a positive effect on improving the self-esteem of children in Grandparents-grandchildren Families. Second, art therapy has a positive effect on improving the social skills of children in Grandparents-grandchildren Families. Taken together, art therapy had a positive effect on the improvement of self-esteem and social skills of children in Grandparents-grandchildren Families, and as a case study, the degree of change in self-esteem and emotional expression related to social skills could be seen in detail and reality. It is expected that art therapy to be an effective intervention method to alleviate the psychological difficulties of grandchildren who experience various changes in the family structure. It is hoped that various case studies related to grandchildren will continue in the future.

본 연구는 미술치료가 조손가정 아동의 자아존중감과 사회적 기술에 미치는 효과성 을 알아보기 위한 사례연구이다. 연구대상자는 A시에 거주하는 초등학교 3학년 여아 이다. 본 연구는 미술치료 프로그램을 연구목적에 맞게 3단계로 나누어 주 1회, 50분 씩 총 33회기를 진행하였다. 연구도구는 Coopersmith(1987)의 자아존중감 척도와 양윤 란(2004)의 아동·청소년 또래관계 기술 척도(PRS-AC)를 본 연구자가 수정·보완한 것 을 사용하였다. 또한 연구대상자의 자아존중감과 사회적 기술과 관련된 정서표현 변화 정도를 단계 및 회기별로 기술하여 질적 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술치료가 조손가정 아동의 자아존중감 향상에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났 다. 둘째, 미술치료가 조손가정 아동의 사회적 기술 향상에 긍정적 효과가 있는 것으 로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 보면, 미술치료가 조손가정 아동의 자아존중감과 사회적 기술 향상에 긍정적인 효과가 나타났고, 사례연구로써 연구대상의 자아존중감 과 사회적 기술과 관련된 정서표현 변화정도를 구체적이고 사실적으로 살펴볼 수 있 었다. 본 연구자는 미술치료가 가족구조 내 다양한 변화를 경험하는 조손가정 아동들 의 심리적 어려움 완화를 위해 효과적인 중재방법이 될 것이라 기대하며, 앞으로도 조 손가정 아동과 관련된 다양한 사례연구가 지속적으로 이루어지길 바란다.
