Based on the recognition that “collective memory,” which is the most notable concept in recent research on group identity, is essential for understanding a country’s national identity or ethnic identity, this paper examined the film Land of Promise by Soviet Korean director Lavrenti Son. In addition, it traced the evolution or transformation of the aspects of “collective memory” reproduced in the film of Lavrenti Son through his novels such as Area of Triangle or Memory. In this process, the paper analyzed his intention to produce the film, which was hidden at the point where he changed the scenarios of his films and plays. despite the same theme of forced migration and the reality of diaspora. At the same time, the narrative strategy of Lavrenti Son’s film for creating another myth was also highlighted from the fact that the people who have been forced to emigrate to Kazakhstan do not accept the memory as a mere tragedy, but discover the inner strength to overcome trauma and are reborn as “Kazakhstan people.” Through this, along with the fact that he had a dual identity as a Soviet Korean born in Kazakhstan, this paper clarified that the values of “mutual growth” and “coexistence” which he wanted to present through the film were connected with the policy direction of Kazakhstan, a multi-ethnic country.

본고에서는 최근 집단정체성 연구에서 가장 주목받는 개념인 ‘집단기억’이 한 나라의 국가정체성이나 민족정체성 이해에 필수적이라는 인식을 전제로, 고려인 감독 라브렌찌 송의 영화 <약속의 땅>을 살펴보았다. 또한 라브렌찌 송의 영화에서 재현되는 ‘집단기억’의 양상이 그의 소설 「삼각형의 면적」이나 희곡 「기억」에서 진화되거나 변용되어 온 양상을 추적하였다. 이 과정에서 강 제이주와 디아스포라의 현실이라는 동일한 주제를 담고 있음에도 불구하고 그가 영화와　희곡의 시나리오를 변경한 지점에서 은닉되어 있던 그의 영화 제 작 의도를 분석하였다. 동시에 본고에서는 라브렌찌 송이 카자흐스탄에 강제 이주를 당해 온 민족들이 그 기억을 단순한 비극으로 받아들이는 것이 아니 라, 그 속에서 트라우마를 극복하는 내적인 힘을 발견하고 ‘카자흐스탄 국민’ 으로 재탄생하는 또 다른 신화를 창조해가는 영화의 서사 전략에 대해서도 조명하였다. 이를 통해 그가 카자흐스탄에서 출생한 고려인이라는 이중정체 성을 지니고 있다는 점과 함께, 그가 영화를 통해 제시하고자 했던 ‘상생’과 ‘공존’의 가치가 다민족국가인 카자흐스탄의 정책 방향과 연접되어 있음을 규 명하였다.
