In the 18th century, records of the experience of Taiwan by people drifted from Joseon to Taiwan first appeared in Joseon literature. Among the materials recorded through oral statements of the people who returned from drifting, what I noticed was records of Taiwanese natives. After the Qing Dynasty of China annexed Taiwan in 1684, Taiwan in the 18th century saw a time of heightened conflict between its natives and people who migrated from mainland China to Taiwan. The experience stories of the native community by people who happened to drift to Taiwan during this period stand out as very valuable materials that show the reality of Taiwanese natives at that time. Thus, this study attempted to analyze the data related to the native Taiwanese among the Taiwan drift records during the 18th century and to grasp their reality. To this end, I reviewed the records related to Taiwanese natives in the Joseon literature before the 17th century, which was before information on Taiwanese natives was delivered by the direct experience of drifting people, and looked at Joseon's knowledge and perception of Taiwanese natives. Based on this foundation, I analyzed the Taiwan drift records of 30 people including ‘Yoon Do-sung’ and ‘Song Wan’ in 1729, and 14 people including ‘Kim Yeon-song’ in 1758, which described their observations and experiences of the appearance and lifestyle of Taiwanese natives, and examined the appearance of Taiwanese natives from their perspectives, and further contemplated the cultural historical value of these materials

18세기 이후, 대만에 표류했던 조선인에 의해 작성된 대만 체험 기록이 조선 문헌에 처음으로 등장하였다. 귀환한 표류민의 구술을 통해 기록된 자료 중에 필자가 주목한 것은 대만 원주민에 관한 기록이다. 1684년 청 왕조가 대만을 복속한 이후, 18세기의 대만은 중국 본토에서 대만으로 대거 이주한 한인(漢人)과 원주민족 간의 갈등이 고조된 시기였다. 이 시기에 우연찮게 대만에 표착하여 원주민 사회에서 겪은 체험담은 당시 원주민의 실상을 보여주는 매우 값진 자료로서 그 가치가 부각된다. 이에, 본고에서는 18세기 대만 표류 기록 중, 대만 원주민 관련 자료에 초점을 맞춰 내용에 대한 분석과 실상을 파악하는 작업을 시도하였다. 이를 위해, 우선 표류민의 체험에 의한 직접적인 대만 원주민 정보가 전해지기 전인, 17 세기 이전의 조선 문헌에 나타난 대만 원주민 관련 기록들을 검토하여, 조선이 보유하고 있던 대만 원주민에 관한 정보와 인식 등을 살펴보았다. 또한, 이 토대 위에 1729년 ‘윤도성(尹道成)’과 ‘송완(宋完)’ 등 30명, 1758년 ‘김연송(金延松)’ 등 14명의 대만 표류기록을 분석하여, 그들의 시선으로 바라본 대만 원주민의 모습을 고찰하고, 이 자료들의 문화사적 가치에 대해서 살펴보았다.
