This study aims to explore startup in the era of forth industrial revolution based on organizational theory, especially organizational evolution theory. The theory is a powerful framework that explain various social phenomena, such as organization founding and mortality, population variability, gene, with sophisticated concepts and analytic tools from evolutionary biology. According to the theory, for our society to develop, various organizations or organizational populations must be created, and startups are the most important drivers(variation) of social development. If we study startups within the framework of organizational evolution, the following research topics can be found. First, it is a study on the form of startup organization in the era of fourth industrial revolution. This is to find out what organizational forms were established, what are their characteristics, and how they differ from the old ones. Second, it is to study whether the spread of new organizational forms is due to the effects of startups or changes in existing organizations. This is a study on where the impact of the fourth industrial revolution has a greater impact on startups or organizational innovation. Third, it is to study blind variation to boost startups. That is to study conditions that can enhance blind variations with planned variations. The study on startups based on organizational evolution theory presents a variety of research topics from different perspectives that will further enrich previous studies.

이 논문은 제4차 산업혁명시대에 창업이라는 사회적 현상에 대한 조직이론적 접근, 특히 조직진 화론적 분석을 목적으로 한다. 그간 창업에 대한 많은 연구들이 이루어졌지만 보다 정교한 조직 이론적 관점의 거시적인 접근은 부족했다. 이 연구에서는 정교한 개념과 분석 틀을 가진 조직진 화론 관점에서 창업의 가치를 재검토 하고 연구주제를 탐색하고자 한다. 조직진화론과 같은 매 크로 연구를 통해 창업을 연구하면 기존의 연구성과와 함께 새로운 통찰력을 추가해 창업연구가 더욱 발전해 나갈 수 있다. 사회발전과 진화는 변이를 통해 선택과 유지과정을 거치는데, 특히 현대 사회의 주요 구성요인인 새로운 조직의 탄생(창업)이 가장 중요한 변이 요인이 된다. 제4차 산업혁명시대에 창업기업들의 조직형태는 어떤 특성을 가지고 있으며, 기존 조직과는 어떤 차이 가 있는지 중요한 연구대상이다. 급변하는 환경의 영향은 기존 조직의 변혁을 통해서 새로운 조 직으로 다양해지는지 아니면 새로운 조직의 설립으로 다양성이 증가하는지에 대한 연구도 필요 하다. 마지막으로 창업가의 창업역량이나 창업의지는 계획적이고 합목적으로 육성되는지 아니면 무계획적 또는 우연에 의해 제고되는지에 대한 연구를 통해 창업연구의 범위와 대상을 확장시킬 수 있다.
