From the past to now, security officers have played a key role as effective physical security controls. However, the prevalence of cost-effective security systems utilizing electronic systems have led to a negative perception of security officers requiring high maintenance costs. The organization emphasizes management-side cost-effectiveness to build an efficient security system with limited resources, but security officers should establish efficient operational plans through a comprehensive approach as human beings affected by a variety of external factors. This study analyzed the current status and problems of security officers of domestic companies and derived improvements to examine specific measurements to be considered for efficient operation of security officers. Problems in the operation of current security officers led to reduction in concentration of work due to fatigue, work satisfaction, and deterioration of health. As a solution, the ‘design work schedule considering fatigue’, ‘improvement of fatigue risk management system’, ‘shift work system considering organizational characteristics and work environment’ are presented. It is expected that the value of practical use will be more effective by suggesting efficient operation of security officers through the use of proven data such as domestic and foreign regulations, guidelines, manuals, and reports.

과거에서 현재에 이르기까지 보안요원은 효과적인 물리보안 통제수단으로서 핵심적인 역할을 수행해왔다. 그러나 전자적 시스템을 활용한 비용 효율적인 보안시스템의 보급이 일어남에 따라 높 은 유지비용을 필요로 하는 보안요원에 대한 부정적인 인식이 자리 잡았다. 조직은 한정된 자원을 투입하여 효율적인 보안 시스템을 구축하기 위해 경영적 측면의 비용 효율을 강조 하고 있지만, 보안요원은 다양한 외적 요소에 영향을 받는 인간으로서 종합적 관점에서의 접근을 통해 효율적인 운용방안을 구축해야 한다. 이 연구에서는 국내 기업의 보안요원 운영현황, 문제점 등을 분석하고 그에 대한 개선점 을 도출하여 효율적인 보안요원 운용을 위해 고려되어야 할 사항을 구체적으로 살펴보았 다. 현재 보안요원 운용에서의 문제점으로 ‘피로도로 인한 업무집중도 감소’, ‘근무 만족도 감소’, ‘건강 악화’가 도출되었고 이에 대한 해결책으로 ‘피로도를 고려한 근무일정 설계’, ‘야간근무 환경 개선’, ‘피로 위험 관리시스템(FRMS)을 통한 체계적인 피로도 관리’, ‘조직 특성과 근무환경을 고려한 교대근무 체계’, ‘조직의 보안요원에 대한 체계적인 건강관리’ 등을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 국내외 관련 법 규정, 지침, 매뉴얼, 보고서 등 검증된 자료 활용을 통해 효율 적인 보안요원 운용방안을 제시함으로써 실무적 활용 가치가 높을 것으로 기대하며, 이를 활용한 보안요원의 효율성 제고를 통해 기존 인식의 변화도 기대할 수 있을 것이다.
