This propose of this study is to identify effective factors(self-determination) on police officer’s public service motivation(PSM). For the analysis, from February, 2019 to March, 2019, a survey was conducted using the method of convenience sampling for 280 police officers belonging to the Busan and Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and the local police station. A total of 280 copies of the questionnaire were distributed, and 243 copies were used for the final analysis, excluding 37 copies of the questionnaire that responded unfaithfully. As a result of the study, first, it was found that autonomy increased public service motivation for police officers. second, it was found that relatedness increased public service motivation for police officers. Finally, policy implications(ex: police organizational culture and police organizational management) according to the results of this study and the limitations of this study were discussed.

이 연구는 자기결정성이 경찰공무원의 공공서비스동기(public service motivation)에 미치는 영향을 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 조사대상자는 2019년 2월부터 3월까지 편의표집(convenience sampling)의 방법을 통해 서울 및 부산지역 내 경찰공무원 280명 을 대상으로 하였고, 설문조사 후 불성실하게 응답한 설문을 제외한 243명을 대상으로 하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기결정성 내 자율성은 경찰공무원의 공공서비스동기를 증가시키는 것으로 나 타났다. 둘째, 자기결정성 내 관계성은 경찰공무원의 공공서비스동기를 증가시키는 것 으로 나타났다. 분석결과를 통해 경찰조직문화 및 경찰조직관리에 있어 정책적 시사점 과 연구의 한계를 제시하였다.
