This study aims to explore a learning design procedure that can teach Daechwita and Mehter, Turkish military music, based on a comparative methodology. The reason for comparing the two military music pieces is to examine the similarities and differences of the two, to identify their characteristics, and to guide students to understand the true value of Korean music culture. In addition, by presenting Turkish music, which is not well known in the classroom, it is to provide an educational environment to broaden the understanding of the music cultures of various countries. First, after examining the contents of Mehter contained in textbooks, problems and improvement measures were suggested. The instructional content on Mehter presented in the textbook is abbreviated, and the names of instruments and explanations on the music are not clear. The reason is that there are many errors in the theory books containing the contents of Mehter, and there are no educationally approached research cases. In order to compensate for this, the overall characteristics of the music were analyzed and examined so that Daechwita and Mehter could be compared and analyzed. In addition, “Daechwita” and “An old army march”(Eski ordu marsi) were selected as instructional songs, and the learning design procedure was composed in the order of the area of appreciation, expression, and application in daily life. In the area of appreciation, through a historical and cultural approach in connection with art and literary works, students are guided to understand the performance form and use of Daechwita and Mehter performed in the past. In the activity of appreciating the selected music, students are instructed to identify the instrumentation and the tones of instruments, analyze the difference, and then understand the overall characteristics of the music. In the area of expression, students are instructed to learn firsthand the jangdan(rhythmic cycle) and expressive characteristics of music by playing the percussion instruments, Yonggo and Davul, each of which symbolizes respective military music. In the area of application in daily life, students are guided to examine a performance video clip of Mehter, which is relatively excellent in visual aesthetics and formation, and to find ways to improve a performance clip of Daechwita playing that are currently being used. Based on this, a promotional video is planned to help students understand the excellence and value of Korean music and increase their self-pride. As this study limited only Daechwita and Mehter the research subjects, there is a limit to teaching the overall characteristics of Asian music. In the future, it is hoped that the condition for educating through proper comparative studies of Korean music culture will continue to be prepared, based on a detailed understanding of the cultures of other countries with active research on ethnic music.

본 연구에서는 대취타와 터키의 군례악인 메흐테르를 비교방법론적으로 지도할 수 있는 학습 설계 절차를 모색해 보았다. 두 군례악을 상호 비교하는 이유는 서로의 유사점과 차이 점을 분석해 보면서 특징을 파악하고 이를 토대로 우리 음악 문화의 진정한 가치를 제대로 이해할 수 있도록 지도하기 위함이다. 더불어 학교 현장에서 잘 알려지지 않은 터키 음악을 제시하여 다양한 국가의 음악 문화에 관한 이해의 폭을 넓힐 수 있는 교육 여건을 마련하는 데 있다. 먼저, 교과서에 수록된 메흐테르에 관한 내용을 살펴보면서 문제점과 개선책을 제시했다. 메흐테르에 관한 지도 내용은 소략할 뿐 아니라 악기의 명칭과 음악에 관한 해설 등이 명확 하지 않다. 그 이유는 현재까지 메흐테르 관련 내용을 수록한 이론서에 일부 오류가 많으며 교육적으로 접근한 연구 사례가 없기 때문이다. 이를 보완하기 위해 대취타와 메흐테르를 비교 분석해 볼 수 있도록 음악의 특징을 분석하여 고찰했다. 더불어 지도 악곡으로 ‘대취타’ 와 ‘옛 군대의 행진(Eski ordu marsi)’을 선정하여 감상, 표현, 생활화 영역의 순으로 학습 설계 절차를 구성했다. 감상 영역에서는 먼저 미술 및 문학작품과 연계한 역사․문화적 접근 을 통하여 과거 행했던 대취타와 메흐테르의 연주 형태와 쓰임을 파악하도록 했다. 선정 악 곡의 감상 활동에서는 악기편성과 악기의 음색을 파악해 봄과 동시에 차이점을 분석해 보도 록 했다. 표현 영역에서는 각 군례악을 상징하는 타악기 용고와 다불을 연주해 보면서 음악 의 장단(리듬)과 표현적 특징을 체득할 수 있도록 하였다. 생활화 영역에서는 상대적으로 영 상미와 구성이 뛰어난 메흐테르 연주 영상을 살펴본 후 현재 활용되고 있는 대취타 연주 영 상의 개선책을 모색하도록 하였다. 이를 토대로 홍보 동영상을 기획해 우리 음악의 우수성과 가치를 이해하고 자긍심을 높일 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구에서는 대취타와 메흐테르만을 연구 대상으로 제한하였으므로 아시아 음악의 전반 적인 특징을 지도하기에는 한계가 있다. 앞으로도 민족 음악에 관한 연구가 활성화되어서 타국의 문화에 대한 세세한 이해를 바탕으로 우리 음악 문화를 제대로 비교하여 교육할 수 있는 여건이 꾸준하게 마련되기를 기대한다.
