The study investigated preliminary levels of early childhood pre-service teachers’ personality characteristics, level of happiness, and their teaching aptitude. The study also attempted to analyze its correlations and impact of personality characteristics and happiness. 158 pre-service student participants responded to a survey questionnaire. Pearson correlation and multiple regression analyses were conducted with the data provided, using SPSS 25.0 version. The results showed that the student participants’ personality characteristics was 3.74 out of 5, level of happiness was 4.02, and teaching aptitude was 4.45. The correlations among the three factors appeared to be statistically significant, and the results of multiple regression analysis showed that both personality characteristics and happiness showed statistically significant impact on their teaching aptitude. The findings provided implications that teacher training institutes need to promote pre-service teachers’ personality characteristics as well as level of happiness.

본 논문에서는 예비유아교사들의 성격특성, 행복감, 그리고 교직적성의 기본 수준 및 각 변인 간의 상관 관계를 알아보고 이들의 성격특성 및 행복감이 교직적성에 어떠한 영향을 끼치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 4년제 유 아교육과에 재학 중인 158명의 응답을 토대로 SPSS 25.0 버전을 활용하여 Pearson 상관관계 및 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 예비유아교사들의 성격특성은 5점 만점에 3.47, 행복감은 4.02, 교직적성은 4.45점으로 나타 났으며, 각각의 변수는 모두 비교적 높은 수준의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 또한 중다회귀분석 결과, 예비유아교사들 의 성격특성(t=2.798, p<0.01)과 행복감(t=6.981, p<0.001)은 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 수준으로 이들의 교직적성 에 영향을 끼치는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 예비유아교사들의 성격특성을 발달시키고 행복감을 높이는 등의 교 원양성기관의 노력과 지원 대책이 예비유아교사들의 교직적성을 높일 수 있음을 시사받을 수 있다.
