This research is about the transition history of the Yedang International Performing Arts Festival, which is held every year in small cities with a population of 80,000 in the hometown of Seongbi and Chungcheong Province. The Yedang International Performing Arts Festival is Chungnam's only international performing arts festival and continues to grow into an international performing arts festival despite its short operation of eight. Amid the deepening polarization of the metropolitan area and regions, Considering the Yedang International Performing Arts Festival is necessary to recognize the importance of a specialized concept as a performing arts festival aiming to form the identity of local festivals and internationalize them. With the advent of the era of local autonomy, moves to create added value by utilizing intangible values of culture and the arts through festivals have become more active. Performing arts festivals require the recognition of the value approach of culture and art and the developmental changes in urban regeneration projects that promote cultural consumption. The purpose of this research is to explore the motivation, international exchange, performance development, and the discovery of theatrical artists, and to study the history of the transition of the Geijut International Performing Arts Festival, and to explore the development of methods. He also observed the development process of the Yedang International Performing Arts Festival and proposed a demonstrative framework that can be used to instill pride and identity in local residents and to promote regional image development and revitalization. The measures sought should include the need for cooperation with the performance art festival utilizing the cultural resources inherent in it, and a strategic review from a commercial perspective that looks at the consumption culture. In response, it can be said that it studied the history of the international performing arts festival and confirmed the potential for the festival to grow into a global festival aimed at internationalization.

본 연구는 선비와 충절의 고장 충남 예산 지역의 인구 8만의 작은 소도시에서 해마다 치러지고 있는 예당국제공연예술제에 대한 변천사 연구이다. 예당국제공연예술제는 충남 유일의 국제공연예술 축제로 써 8회라는 짧은 운영 기간임에도 불구하고 국제공연예술축제로 꾸준히 성장해 오고 있다. 예당국제공연 예술제는 수도권과 지역의 예술적 양극화 심화 속에서 예술성과 창작성을 통해 질적으로 특화되고 향상 된 콘텐츠 개발의 성공적인 공연예술축제로 평가되고 있다. 예당국제공연예술제를 고찰해보는 것은 지 역축제의 정체성을 형성하고 국제화를 지향하는 공연예술축제로써의 특화된 콘셉트의 중요성을 인식하 는데 필요하다. 지방 자치 시대의 도래로 축제를 통한 문화예술의 무형의 가치를 이용한 부가가치를 창 출하려는 움직임이 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 공연예술축제는 문화예술의 가치적 접근과 문화소비를 촉진하는 도시 재생사업의 발전적 변화의 인식을 필요로 한다. 본 연구는 예당국제공연예술제의 변천사 에서 중요 내용을 연구함에 있어 개최동기, 국제교류, 공연의 발전내용, 연극예술인 발굴 등의 내용을 살 펴보고 예당국제공연예술제의 변천사를 연구하여 발전 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 예당국제공연예술제 의 발전과정을 살펴보면서 지역민들에게 자부심과 정체성을 심어주고 지역 이미지 구축 제고와 지역 활 성화를 지속시키는데 효과적인 전략으로 활용될 수 있는 실증적 틀의 방안을 제시하였다. 모색된 방안으 로는 내재된 문화자원을 활용한 공연예술제와의 연계성 필요와 소비문화를 바라보는 상업적 관점에서의 전략적 검토가 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료 된다. 이에, 예당국제공연예술제의 변천사를 연구하여 공연예 술제가 국제화를 지향하는 글로컬(glocal) 축제로써 성장할 수 있는 잠재적 가능성을 확인한 것이라고 하겠다.
