Interest in Acrchetype was triggered by the ‘Cultural Circle Digital Contents Project’ conducted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Korea Cultural Contents Promotion Agency. ‘Our cultural archetype’ is being discovered in various fields such as, art and geography. Cultural archetypes are considered important in the study of Korean cultural contents, and the broad definition of cultural archetypes refers to a culture that is differentiated from other regions as it contains the characteristics of the people or regions among traditional cultures. Among the Chungbuk region, Cheongju faces the necessity of developing cultural and artistic contents by utilizing cultural archetypes, and accordingly, is striving to develop cultural and artistic contents based on cultural archetypes. Through various cultural archetypes such as 'Jikji Simcheyojeol', which is the world's first metal type, Cheongju uses the concepts of One Source-Muti Use, such as plays, movies, as well as Korean traditional music and dance. Accordingly, in this study, among the various cultural archetypes of Cheongju, , a tangible cultural property in the field of art, , and finally focusing on figures and figures based on historical facts. Accordingly, ‘Cheongju, the City of Recorded Culture’ has the potential to develop as an element of performance and performing arts by incorporating storytelling through cultural archetypes possessed by the region in order to grow one step further as a culture and art city. Accordingly, in this study, Cheongju I would like to study the case of the development of cultural and artistic contents using local cultural archetypes.

문화원형(Acrchetype)에 대한 관심은 문화관광부와 한국 콘텐츠 진흥원에서 진행한 ‘문화원형 디지털 콘텐츠화 사업’을 계기로 각계에서 관심이 촉발되었고, 이에 따라 한국의 역사, 전통, 풍물, 생활, 문화, 예술, 지리 등 다양한 분야에서 우리의 ‘문화원형’이 발굴되고 있다. 문화원형은 한국 문화 콘텐츠 연구 에서 중요하게 다루어지고 있으며, 문화원형에 대한 폭넓은 정의로는 전통문화 가운데 그 민족 또는 그 지역의 특징을 잘 담고 있어 다른 지역과 차별화된 문화를 지칭하고 있다. 충북지역 중에서도 청주는 문 화원형을 활용하여 문화예술 콘텐츠 개발의 필요성을 직시하고, 이에 따라 문화원형을 토대로 한 문화예 술 콘텐츠 개발에 힘쓰고 있다. 더불어 세계 최초의 금속활자인 ‘직지심체요절’ 등 청주가 가지고 있는 다양한 문화원형을 통해 연극, 영화, 뿐만 아니라 국악, 무용 등 원소스 멀티 유즈(One Source- Muti Use) 의 개념을 활용하여 다양한 예술로서 표현하고 있다. 문화원형을 중심으로 한 문화예술콘텐츠의 개발은 지역의 특수성과 특성을 매개로 하고 있기 때문에 다양한 부분에서 지역민들의 삶의 질을 향상시키고, 애향심을 고취 시킬 수 있는 장점이 있을 뿐만 아니라, 지역의 문화원형을 통한 지역의 특수성도 살펴 볼 수 있기 때문에 문화예술계에서는 중요한 연구대상이자 개발의 필요성이 있다고 할 수 있다. 이에 따 라 본 연구에서는 청주의 다양한 문화원형 중, 건축분야의 유형문화재인 <망선루>, 미술분야의 유형문화 재 <을축갑회도>, 마지막으로 역사적 사실을 근간으로 한 인물과 그 인물을 중심으로 한 <서원향약>을 중심으로 문화원형을 공연예술에 접목한 사례를 연구해 보고자 한다. 이를 통해 ‘기록문화도시 청주’는 기록의 산문화인 문화원형을 통한 문화예술콘텐츠의 개발을 통해 문화예술도시로서의 청주로 한 단계 더 발돋움해 나갈 수 있다고 본다.
